So I just finished 1/2 of my first grow and I am seeing that the buds are very fluffly, and not very dense. How in the future can I tighten them up? I am using a 400 watt MH/HPS, so I don't think it's not enough light, there were only four plants. Flora nova nutes, and big bloom. Thanks

try some molasses. 1 tbsp for per gallon h2o. i hear it swells buds by 20%. how long have you been on 12/12 and wat strains u growin?

I never starve( what some people mistakenly call Flushing) my plants near the end of flower. If your not using Chemical nutes there's no need for it IME.

I'll try the molasses next time around. It still works in a DWC set up right? I did cut nutes a little too early, being my first grow I wasn't sure how long it would take for them to ripen. The two I cut down were at nine/ten weeks flowering, the two I have left I am going to cut one down end of the week, this is the 11th week flow. the other end of next week. trichs are mostly cloudy on the first one, still pretty clear on the other. Speeka, are all your nutes organic, or just the bloom? why use the veg nutes instead of your bloom nutes? I forgot to add that the culprit of my fluffy buds could be that I had a hermie release a little pollen, mother fuck face.

Or next time you could try reading, with organic Nutes you can feed right up to the chop.
Only a novice would think that you can actually FLUSH in soil. Thats a myth all you are doing is starving the plant.
I only use organic my friend I am smoking it after all. I use Bio-Bizz brand of nutrient, have been for about 5 years now, the reason I switch to higher veg nutes is to reduce the possibility of excess phosphorus from the bloom nutes, this allows the plant to eat up any excess while still having plenty of N & K to aid in bud development.
I have made the mistakes that other's on here have made, in regards to "flushing" ive done side by side grows with both flush & no flush... & in soil its a load of bollox, to put it mildly!
To quote one of my mentors:
"You cant wash the nutrient reserves from soil, soil based composts or composts except for the immediate soluble salts."
"You can,t flush nutrients from plants, you can starve them by just watering them."
"You dont have to worry about the excess of nutrients in when growing with organic nutrients in the same way as you do with chemical fertilizers."

2) Molasses will help a little, but if youre posting about a fluff issue... Then molasses probably wont do what you need, because it helps a little, not a lot.
More than likely you are growing a strain that just doesnt have a tight bud formation by nature.
1st question that should have been asked was "what strain?"

I'm using the Humbolt's Own Flower gravity hardener. I have been running my system for quite a few harvests. I used the gravity at very small amounts, 5mL for 11 gallon res, used for one week at week 5 or 6 of flower. Also using just a little molassis- one to two mL for the 11 gallon res. In the process of clipping right now, noticing more substantial flowers to trim. It seemed to work. I had a problem from previous harvests with undeveloped buds at the lower branches, now I'm finding them to be bigger and better developed. I harvest at week 9 like clock work, The buds appear to be from a plant that had a longer flower time. Give it a go and use this product. I had my PPM down to 700 before I used the product, otherwise it will burn the shit out of her. good luck
I don't know the strain, I started with bagseed. The buds that are fluffy now came from an indica dominant strain, short squat, fat leaves. The buds were fluffy on the plant as well as off.The plant that is still growing now has light fluffy buds and it's a sativa dominant strain, I hope it's just the strain and not something I'm doing.

I disagree, flushing even organic nutrient out of your plants is beneficial. If you actually read the ingredients in most organic ferts (like fish emulsion) they are usually made up of nasty things that are good for your plant but not so good for you, especially taste wise. Fish emulsion is made from premium fish waste, blood, and bone. Who wants to smoke herb that tastes like fish waste, lol not me.
