There are tons of sprays you can use, pyrytheum based sprays, neem oil, spinosad etc etc.

Once you plant gets bigger, they don't seem to mess with them like they do smaller plants

SM-90, any insect soap.

Fire work very well.

Thrips lay eggs in the soil, if you have a problem with them on the leafs they will also be in the soil. Use a spray followed by a soil drench ! Trust me !
