how do I control humidity?

I am new to growing, I have 2 -3wk old ladies under a 400w hps on an 18/6 schedule. I also have 9 germies about 2" tall in there as well the lights are about 14" above the plants and temps at plant tops is around 80. It is really dry in there and I was wondering how I can make it more humid? Does it really matter in the veg state? They are in a rubbermaid 45Q container about 3'x2'x3'. Thanks in advance for the help.

Get a humidifier???

How dry is it?

Put a bucket of water in your grow room. Instant humidity.

That's what I did.. Cup of water to let it evaporate. My place goes from 40 to 60% humidity.

put a cup of water..2 or 3 maybe help alittle more...run down to r local home hardware or whatever get a humity and temp gauge. there pretty cheap run ya about 15 bucks. works great to find room temp..mine has alarms for humity and temp if it gets to cold or get to warm..or not enuough humity or heat....

bucket or humidifer should work. Do you have a fan in there cuz that will help evaporate the water from the bucket as well as bringing your temp down a bit which will also raise your humidity. Are you moving to something taller for flowering because if not I would flower asap those ladies are already awful close to your lamp and they are going to double+ in size. Oh, you can also mist the air a bit once or twice a day, try not to get too much water directly on your plants, but mist the box.

Dont mean to hijack your thread, but I have read somewhere (too many sites/threads, can't remember where) that more humidity means the leaves get bigger (or was it smaller?) and the plant produces less resin since it's directing its efforts into the leaves instead of the buds. Can anyone confirm/comment?

I've never heard that it affects the leaves. I try to keep my grow area quite dry in flowering, i've read that the plants produce more resin as a defense against the dry air + humidty can cause mold in the buds. In a vegetative state its good to keep the humidity up though..

I have a video that says the humidity is best at 75% during Veg and as you get into the flowering process lower it down to 45%. In the video, the farmer seems to know what he's doing.

I can raise or lower my light as need be. Moved it up to about 20" leaves were burning. Bowl of water working great Thanks.
