How can you tell if a plant was grown indoors or outdoors? With soil or hydroponically? How big the plant was? What can we learn from knowing a strains parents? What do some of the popular terms like OG mean? What type of main smells do buds give off (fruity, piney, spicy)? How moist/dry should the bud be? What would you search for just by looking at a bud?

Ocean Grown was just grown by the ocean. Since Kush plants originated from the Hindu Kush, the seeds have the genetics that will grow them the same way in any condition harsh or not? So OG Kush is just as potent as Kush?

my one friend says she can always taste bud that was grown in hydro vs soil.. me, i'm not that good i guess..

the bigger the plant, the bigger the yield usually, all other things being equal..

knowing a strains parents will let the grower now what it's offspring will be like to an extent.

buds can give off a ton of variety on terms of smell.. popular are piney, say an og kush, to fruit smells like banana, pineapple, so on and so on, to hashy..
How moist/dry should the bud be?
about 60% or so is a good starting point.

look at the tricomes, color, are they clear, cloudy or amber.. this will give you an idea of when the bud was picked, and if it was picked at peak potency..

true kush plants come from the kush mountain region, and are almost 100% indica.. og kush plants, on the other hand, have nothing to do with the kush mountains, and are more hybrid in nature.. as far as more potent? that's too subjective to really get a legit answer.. they're both going to give you a different high though, a kush is going to be more couch lock, and an og more hybrid..

You mean 60% like if you put the bud in a jar and let it normalize the jar will have a RH of about 60%, right? Cuz I think properly dried buds actually contain about 10-15% water (as opposed to the 75% water content of fresh buds).
