Cool idea, how many watts of light do you have on currently. I've been thinking about buying some small hlg kits for supp side lighting. I'm running about 800 watts atm

Looking good. I’m sure you know if you defoliate those larger fan leaves your nodes will grow faster.

What training are you doing if any?
I did a pretty aggressive round of defoliating 10 days ago or so. I also pulled all of the lower branches out and tied them down. After 3 or 4 days they held in place so I removed the string. I'll be doing this again...maybe this evening. If I do, I'll also try and get some pictures of her inside just to see how crazy bushy she is.

That's what I want to do...Having never grown a large plant, I just am not sure what to expect. 2 more weeks you think, huh?
I'd say 2weeks then re evaluate if it needs more. Train it side ways. Got room for a monster i think the qbs have about 3 feet penetration? With a light either side you could go 6 ft across? And you've got one hanging overhead too? So you could lolly pop it so your canopy is like 3 feet high and 6 feet wide. Correct me if I'm wrong im still pretty green haha.

Until she started growing, I really did know what to expect. My ceilings are just a tad bit under 9 feet. At the most narrow points, I have 8 feet of width. My target height, from the floor) is 7 or 8 feet. But she has not really wanted to grow up much. I have no idea what to expect during the stretch once I do flip.

Are you planing on loli-popping a sphere in the center, or are you just going to use this to gauge light penetration with this setup?

Maybe you could easily convert this to a vertical grow after this... chapter 6?

Throw a center light tower up, build dome out of chain link in between the panels and run systems all around to speed up turnaround.

Add another side and make it cubed.

I'm just kind of going by the seat of my pants, mostly. If she does a good stretch for me during the 1st 2 or 3 weeks of flowering then I should be able to utilize all 16 quantum boards with the 4 towers. I don't have any specific plans for loli-popping but like I said, I'm just kind of reacting and doing what I think is best as we move along.

Day 71: First bit of Adversity

I've been working hard spending several hours a day in the lab and trying to get everything dialed in perfectly. However, for the last 14 to 20 days or so, I've been experiencing slow growth and most of the tops just don't look right. They look weak and frail and I've been wracking my brain trying to figure it out.

I got lucky and happened to do the right google search today: mangled, deformed and twisted leaves

The 1st few posts I read suggested that I might have an insect issue. FUCK.
I take out my loupe and sure enough....russet mites. I'm kind of freaking out and I spent an hour or so reading as much as I could. Jumped in the car and bought some Neem Oil and Captain Jack's. I gave her an aggressive spray down with the Jack's. All over the outside, the underside...did the best I could. I turned off the top feed pump and wrapped the net pot with paper towels to try and prevent any of this spray from getting into the rez.

It's really weird - I first noticed the tops of each branch being sub-par at least 2 weeks ago. But the plant is still pretty healthy, overall. Maybe she is pest resistant. Maybe I've got everything else dialed in well and she was able to hang tough. I don't know.

Does anyone have experience with Captain Jack's deadbug? I would love to get your opinion/feedback/suggestions.
I'm hoping to see some improvement within 24 hours.

Here are some pics of random tops - from the top of the plant as well as the middle and bottom.

Humidity is down in the low 40's. Temps are between 68 and 75. I administered a 2nd dose of Captain Jacks. I'm seeing no progress or recovery yet....I don't know what to expect either.
Ordered some green cleaner and coco wet wetting agent. Ordered some tweetmint enzyme. Fingers crossed. If anyone has experience battling the russet, I would love to hear from you!

Day 77

It's been 6 days since I discovered russet mites. Treatment seems to be going well. Others tend to say killing the russet is easy - but keeping them dead is the hard part. I'm hopeful but concerned. Fingers crossed.

It's almost time to add another (4) LED's to the towers - probably middle of next week.
Still no hard date set for flowering.

My goal this weekend is to do some LST and stretch her out some. Remove some leaves and probably clear out some larf on the inside. She's incredibly dense even though these pictures don't really show it.

If you love to grow and like to be in control over everything, hydro is great. If you prefer to be more on auto-pilot, maybe not. I love it but I also just love trying new things and learning. I think my next one will not be hydro.
