just get dimmable 1k's, theres never such a thing as to much light lol. But really that might be pushing it, youd probably get some fox tailing for sure. its be really cool though, like you were hiding the sun in a fucking box

theri is a such thing, its called bleaching. and theri is no point of having that much light if the plant is not using all of it. Plus it would be alot hotter to run witch means more costs in fans and intake and out.if he did get a 1000 though your right the dimable one would be the one to get, but whats the point of having a 1000 if your running it on lower watts. 1 600 covers a 4x4 area witch is what he has if he had 2 600 that would be probably more then enough for the room. the 600 are also the most energy effeciant and put out more lumans per watt then any other light. im not saying your wrong or trying to argue, im just a 600 lover

Cant argue there lol, ya i know about bleaching, im just a 1k lover. i got mine on movers and about 24" away. It would be too much light though lol, maybe you could do 2k at late in flower or somethin but whatever lol. Anyway not tryin to thread jack any more then we have.

Either way this grow is great as-is and is gana get some good numbers in a small space. And nice Christmas tree!!! i was gana do that with one of my ak's

Switching to 2K just at the end of flower seems somewhat pointless to me and just flat out to much work. I put my plants that are furthest along out to the edges and then put the NEW plant that are being added into flower RIGHT under the lights. Helps to prevent to much of a stretch because I keep them within 5" of the 400w HPS for the first 2 weeks... And I have noticed no ill effects of moving finishing plants from being under the BRIGHTEST of the light. If that makes any sense.

i love the MJ christmas tree, now their needs to be a new pipe under neath of her.
and dam you got alot of plants man. the ones in the far back look like some fatties
lol, yea man those are my producers in the back! This blueberry strain I found was a 'diamond in the rough' sorta thing, and I'm LOVING it!.. It's some work to keep them all happy tho sometimes. lol

Alright guys so check it. Here's what I'm thinking. I can either make the switch to hydro, and strat growin some dro, my only scare is that come summer time I don't know that I can keep my water temps under 72 degrees, so I may have root rot issues is what I was pondering...
Here's option 2. Just FORGET about the hydro all together, put up with the work and keep doing dirt (It's easy as taking a piss for me now, just time consuming) and swap my 2 400's out for a couple 6's instead..... lol

How much hotter does a 6 run than a 4? Does anyone have any personal expierence with this?

i say get a few plants in hydro to see if you like it and if you can do it. hydro always seems like more work to me plus more cash, and honestly i see no difference in bud sizes. i have a buddy who grows PK now for 10 years all in dirt till a few years ago he switched to hydro. he says the only real difference that can be seen is that they veg a few days faster and thats it, the buds dont get bigger or more potent or nothing just a faster veg.
im a dirt lover as well so thats why i think this.
and im not sure on the 600 is hotter then the 4 but ive read it is not to much hotter

Ya know that's probably the best bet MCP. Thanks dog, that way I won't be sacrificing and yield really, but still get to diddle in some ponics. That's what I'm going to do. I'll probably make 2 bubble buckets. One with a drip system and one withour. That's just what I'm thinking now. So we'll see what's up.

And what do you guys think of these hortilux bulbs? Worth the extra $70 bucks you think?... Because I have the cheapest bulbs on the market right now, think I'd see a difference in switching to the Hortilux?
I was actually thinking about goin and buying one of the 400w MH conversion bulbs for my hood, and a 400w regular Hortilux HPS bulb for my cooltube. Has anybody following along ever tried this before out of curiosity?

i hope the hydro does well for you.
as for the hortilux bulbs well im not sure ive never used them. i first used the htg supply 600 watt bulb and it did great and still has not burnt out. i then bought a new sun master 600 bulb for 90 bucks, it did not seem brighter and all the lumen ratings and stuff were the same as the cheaper bulb so i saw no difference at all except mabye that the sun master will last longer.

as for a conversion bulb well i almost bought one but then started talking to another vet grower and he said that i might as well just get the hps bulb cuz the conversion bulb has alot less lumans and light out put. ive never used it before though this is just what i was told

So I went ahead and bought 2 Hortilux bulbs... We'll see what happens. I know it's hard to tell, but there's 4 rows of 4 plants. Some pix after a watering and swapping out the bulbs.

+Rep to ya MC!

Yea I just did my research and it showed the same thing. I'd be sacrificing 17,000 lumens using a Conversion bulb over these EYE Hortilux super HPS bulbs. I'm just curious to if I'm going to see a difference. Ultrasun $20 bulbs vs EYE Hortilux super HPS $100 bulbs. Like I said, we'll see what happens. Hopefully it was a good $200 investment. Only time will tell though.

are the new hortilux bulbs HPS? they look really on the blue side of the spectrum. and dam 20 dollar bulbs. where you get those at? if you dont see any huge difference after a few grows with them then i would switch back to the cheaper ones. but im sure theri is something better about them

I like the hortilux. They are good for like 12,000 hours too before a change (the 1k hps), cost per grow is nothing when u look at it like that.

Yea I get the $20 Ultrasun bulbs at the same hydro store I always go to. Where I purchased the $94.95 Eye Hortilux bulbs. And yes, they're HPS. On the box is says "EYE Hortilux Enhansed Spectrum Super HPS"...

Hell yea man, thanks for that!

You can not beat Eye Hortilux. They are worth every penny. You can usually find deals on eBay. You can not skimp on your bulb. Looking good esse!

well guys harvested a couple of the girls a bit ago, dried em and Got 6.1 oz's off 6 plants, had 3 plants come down about a month (maybe a little less) before that but didn't feel like weighing them just smoked it. lol

Anyways I went with another upgrade. I'm rockin a 1K Hortilux SUPER HPS now instead of 2 400's and a 175... And holy shit I can tell a difference in light! HA! it's alot brighter in there and hurts my eyes. lol

So now I got 2 400w HPS setups and a 175 HPS not being used... I'd hook them up tooo if I wasn't a bit worried about my power consumption. lol, this 1K is fucking ROCKING so far tho! LOVING it! Best purchase yet.

Here's a new pic, much less cluttered in there!
