How far do you like to keep them from the canopy?This is definitely and understatement. I run 2 QB 288 v2 @ around 220 watts during flower and it crushes my 2x3. I'd need that extra foot of width to even be able to use the 260 watts i have available.

It depends on the plant and whether I'm in veg or flower, but during flower i usually end up around 18 inches from the canopy.
Ok. Just so i get this clearly. You got an R-Spec made for a 4.5'x4.5' area dimmed to like 280w (electrical efficiency of approx 3.1+ umol/j vs. x2 , old 84X's (EE of Aprox 1.5 or less Umol/j)?
Yes. Together they are pulling roughly 1.21jw.

The hlg side look like it needs alot more food
I did just up the nutrients last night on both plants.
My guess would be the hlg side will need more than the hgl side all the extra output will make them want more food
I would Tighten up them lights bro. Dont waste what is there. Those 2 can be close together (3-6") & angled would give you a comparable ppfd to the hlg probably & fully light the top with a center peak.
I had the same thought. It would be interesting to gradually increase nutes and see which side first shows excess.

I didn't want to suggest anything, was just gonna let you do your thing, but I think that would be an awesome setup.
