A few nug shots from earlier.
Got their final flush today. Lights out Sunday night. I usually feed every other day so they will be getting and extra day to dry out Sunday and will sit in the pots for 5 or 6 days to start a nice slow dry then hung whole.

This is interesting ... so would this be considered the "die on the vine" method? I heard someone refer to something similar but i think they only did 2 or 3 days in the pot in complete darkness. Your doing more like 6-9 days if i'm understanding ? is that in complete darkness the whole time? Does it speed up the curing process ? They look great. I'm rooting for you to get 1+ pounds. :weed:

I've got a lot of in the know people who swears by 48+ hrs of dark before chop...... One guy even chops with a green light and then hangs them without light.

A lot of people "in the know" don't....the whole put them in the dark is just another cannabis grow myth. Hell now I hear of people pouring boiling water into the pots to kill the roots and let the plant ferment...........

Ohh, and the "secret ingredient" in many so called "flush" formulas? Magnesium........

the boiling roots thingy only works if you use the tears of midgets (:

If the lights get cut Sunday they will get about 4 to 6 days in the dark in the pots and that's only to start the slow drying process because rh can dip pretty low and it also helps the plant start to deplete it's chlorophyll a little better in my experience. Then I'll chop em and hang em for another 4 to 7 days depending. Then into a bin for 2 to 3 days then trim and jar. The slower and steadier the dry the better your flowers will be in the end.

@sixstring2112 I've tried that once but using the tears of baby rhinos. Didn't live up to my expectations.

Well this one particular guy did lab tests. I'll find out numbers. It wasn't huge but there was a difference.

I'm going to give this a try thanks.

edit: When you do this do you turn off any dehumidifiers or anything like that ?

I'll leave the little pole fan on low and aim it away from the plants and leave the exhaust on low as well while they're sitting in the dark. I turn off the stronger vornado fan altogether.
When I chop the plants and hang them if I can't get the rh to stay at 50 minimum, I will run a humidifier outside the tent checking often to make sure it doesn't go above 60rh, especially with chunky grenade sized buds, they'll be just fine at 50rh.
Sometimes a little water in that storage bin they sit in will raise the rh slightly.
The exhaust fan on low will keep the air moving gently enough around the buds so there's no stagnation.

This is unrelated but what do you use to dim your quantum boards ? I just got my drivers and didn't order a dimmer :P Can i just go get something at radio shack that doesn't require any soldering ?

Depends on what you have for a driver.

I have 2 hlg-240-2100b drivers I have the qb288 boards. I went and bought 2 50k ohm linear taping dimmers from radio shack. I would like to put both drivers on one dimmer that's why I bought the 50k dimmers. the 2nd one is just for redundancy. I gave up on finding one that didn't require soldering. I can solder I just don't like too lol.

It's not like you're soldering wires onto a cob which involves a bit of finesse so you don't burn off the contact pads or something. Just a couple blobs of solder on the pot and you're good to go. Since you already have the drivers it's not like you have much choice ;)

Yeah I was just being lazy. I didn't want to have to find my soldering iron :)

I have a question for anyone who knows. On the dimmer do I have to use a resistor with the meanwell hlg-240h-2100b ?

I believe adding a resistor will eliminate the flickering issues that can happen. I use them, pretty simple to add on.

I bought some 5k resistors just incase, But I never see anyone use them in the instructional videos that are out there. It made me wonder if there is something that limits the dimming function in the driver already ? I'm new to building leds so i'm not an expert on drivers or anything. This will be my first build of any light that doesn't have a bulb lol.
