high ph bud soaking to prevent bud rot?!

At least I think that's how he spelled it, he mentioned Green Cure (87% potassium bicarbonate), and he said he used it as a preventative measure on the onset of flowering, and had hardly lost anything to bud rot. I'll see if I tagged him right, and edit this if I didn't.

As a preventive yes. Where I live we get tons of rain and while everyone else last season was getting rot and other issues, mine were fine.

I would recommend using actinovate as well early on.

The whole point is really being diligent earlu on to prevent.

I remember your plants were not so fine last yr.you were worried mid aug on the late flowering you had, then third week in sept you put up a bunch of blurry pics saying harvest was done an mold free.please we are not all dum!

I did not get rot...I did have one plant in the back that got some black spot but it didnt get far. Rot it different then black spot.

your amazing no bud mid aug to harvest third in sept!!I can pull it up if u want. not hating just need to be clear way to much bs on these boards.

I told you before tho that I dont foliar feed anything but silica
Most of you outdoor growers use a lot of foliar feeding qnd for it to really work has to have a high acid ph. So not only are you creating an acidic environment but giving fungus food to feed off of.
I had a very late harvest yes but other then a rare bud here and there I didnt lose any to rot.

its easy to beat rot when you harvest 2-3 weeks early.its all in your posts aug 10 u say your worried that buds were just starting sept 20 u say harvest is done??I was going to call you out last fall but u fell off the earth till now.anyway iam done with you

The hash plant was the only one who was ready
The rest came down mid to late Oct
It is what it is

Wow. great work. Last year I lost too much to rot for my liking. Can you please go into detail on how and what that you mixed for your spray? I assume you applied it to the buds after it rained so that the rot didn't start to take hold. Also how did you use actinovate?

not only do we get a lot of rain but the leaves would just be soaked in the a.m. from dew.
Also some brands of silica is higher in ph so I used that often to spray and as a root drench.

Actinovate sadly is pricey but it went a long way and wish I would have used it sooner..
tho all of this info is mute if you do not have good air flow to your buds. If you have lots of buds touching and not spaced apart there is not much you can do to save them.
Next season I will be adding serenade to the mix as well ... it keeps getting wetter here every fall and I'd hate to lose the battle

Ran into a master grower yesterday (and a botany professor) and as we discussed bud rot, he said that he learned years ago that rot will not grow in an alkaline environment.
So he told me that he often sprays his buds with high alkaline water. He especially soaks the hell out of them after a rain. He swears he hasn't had rot in years.
So I started reading up on this and several growers swear by this method as a preventative.

it works she got me using high ph sprays on budget last season, I lost very little.

Just a bit of soap..no oil. When I wasn't spraying that I was using a high alkaline silica foliar. You just cant over do the baking soda.
