IES files! Download the software, download the files, import them . . . and simulate any grow room using any number of High Lights at 1.5A, 2.5A, 3.5A or 4A.

Now this is the shit that every light maker should offer...prob a reason why they don’t....and it’s not cuz of the gonio/sphere controversy...

I get asked about a 4'x4' (1.2m x 1.2m) space a lot, so decided to lay out some configurations on the floor.

Here are four boards mounted on two double heatsinks. Each pair would ideally be powered by a HLG-320H-48A for a total of about 700W to the boards.

And here's what that configuration looks like in an IES file with 80% reflective walls and 168W to each board. Figures are in PPFD

And if you are completely mental, like @Or_Gro - and admittedly myself - here are eight boards on heatsinks in a 4x4. I drive each pair with a 240 driver at <200W total.

Here is the IES file at 12" and only 70W per board (560W total).

And at 120W per board for 960W at 24" - you won't get this kind of even coverage in a 4x4 with 1000W HPS.

I find it much more usefull to drive them in "lines" across than in pairs. That way you can boost edges slightly and dim centre for a bit more even cover.

My boards are mounted on heatsinks in pairs already, so I have one driver for each fixture, which I can raise and lower independently of the other. But you are correct. Driving them in "lines" (as I have done with some of the IES files) nets more even coverage. That's the best thing about having IES files and Dialux - you can play around with it until you find what works for you. There may be a very small difference between the IES file and real life (not knowing how reflective the walls are, for example), but it gives you a good indication as to how each position changes the light spread.

I may be mental...but i’ve got even coverage at optimal ppfd....and i can burn a hole to china wheneverb the urge strikes...my kinda lights!

Now let’s see how the spectrum does my girls...

Have you verified these results (what you could) with a par meter? Not just my readings for the 8-bd config in a 4x4.

This should be a fundamental spec for every grow light, posted with all other such specs....by every company.....

The most important variable, your lights, need to be used with light intensity meters, just like we use ec meters, pH metets, thermometers, rh meters the manage our other important variables ....

I’ll try to estimate, when i have some time...

Got a new grow going. This is a Swiss Bliss F2 seed run to select a clone mother, so some plants are performing better than others, but they all seem quite happy. There wasn't much stretch during the first two weeks for most of them. The plant on the far left is a Wappa I'm using as a yield yardstick to see how the others go.

Conversion factor is 62.5. So 62,500 lux is 1000PPFD with these boards.

The 3'x3' is looking pretty good. High Lights in the front and QB324 V1s at the back. The boards appear to be running neck-and-neck at the moment, though the High Lights are getting 345W to the boards (320 driver) and the QBs 400W (480 driver). This whole room will be decked out in High Lights soon, each hooked to a 480 driver.

The strain is Mental Floss and there is one plant per station.

Very clean setup...

Both are layin down how much ppfd?

12-18” above tops?

Room full o 480w per pair of bds, correct?
