i was just lucky/unlucky to get to retire at 50.

retired 7dec05 with 25 years, the day i was eligible, i left.

i get unsolicited job offers every now and then, and i even tried a couple....it just boiled down too....

" i dont want to work, i just want to bang on these drums all day"

i turn 62 here in a few, i went apply for my SS, i had my 40 quarters from part times jobs i held over my working life time. and in 15 minutes, all was set up, no problems at all, it really surprised me.

so stick it out boys...the check is in the mail

I was able to retire in '08 at 58 and am lucky enough to be able to wait and collect my SS at 70. Medicare was easy to sign up for online but the decision process/questions I had was not. Required me doing a lot of research and even then asking for outside help. I don't see how people who are the least bit mentally diminished can accomplish this with their best interests at heart. DO NOT ASK THE "G" FOR HELP, jus' sayin.

NOT getting up and going to work is a vacation in itself ;)

There is a math equation that estimates how much sooner we die for every year early we retire, so there is a risk in it. The trick is to find something to stay busy with.

The wife turned 65 this year. We got her set up for SS and Medicare. Real easy online. I'm only 57, but my she wants me to retire too. I need to keep working so I have someplace to go. As far as money goes, I'm golden as long as she is alive. Even before SS, she was making almost twice what I make just from her retirement. With SS, it is just over twice as much.

Travel, see the world. Plenty of things to do! Spend some time with your wife, being she's that much older. None of us really know when it's our time.

52yrs and been smoking since the early 70's, had health issues for the first time in my life 2yrs back. 1st time in the hospital. Hell hadn't been to a doctor in over 30 years. There fighting me on my disability, even with the doctors sign off. Started growing about a year ago, mostly outside. This was great because I couldn't work, and don't care for doctor drugs. Long story short, someone got my entire crop, so I started growing indoors. My wife was pissed, I started spending smoke money on grow lights, tents and soil. We have been together for over 30 years and she knows I don't half ass thing's. But going 5 months with no smoke scared the crap out of her. I went on YouTube and after some time realized, about the only thing you can learn from YouTube, is you can't learn anything from YouTube. So off to amazon, looking at reviews and getting some crappy lights because the reviews were great. Struggled thru a couple of grows, and didn't do horrible, then I found this site. Put away the crap lights got some cmh lights and everything was great until we lost power for almost a week in over 95% day's. Just now back in flower, maybe another 3 to 4 weeks to go and I get to see my wife smile again.

You know what cracks me up the most?
It's the way young people seem to think that the smoke today is waaay better than the stuff we were smoking in the 70's and 80's. Don't get me wrong, I have to admit that with all the different strains and pheno' taste and smells have come along way, and it's a hell of a lot prettier, but I haven't had anything that sets me down like I remember back in the day. Where is the redbud, old school Thai stick the Hawaiian that looked almost blue?
Columbian gold, Panama red? I ain't knocking today's weed, but it isn't like shit back then wasn't dam good to. I can remember when I bought lids for 15 dollars, no one hardly ever had scales back then, ahhh the good old days, now I sound like my grandad.

I would put that shit against any of the stuff out now, seemed like it kept me higher longer than the smoke today.
