Hermie seeds = feminised, is it a myth?

Hey guys, so this is a story I've come across a few times over the years. That hermie plants which pollenate themselves will produce feminised seeds.

A friend of mine swears that this is in fact true, but I'm skeptical and so did some research but couldn't find any conclusive evidence.

So my question is: Is there any truth to this old story, or is it just an old wives tale?

Its absolutely true, but feminised seeds are produced by forcing a stable female to grow male flowers. If a plant herms on its own and then pollinates itself or another plant the offspring are more likely to be herms themselves

True, its a survival strategy of its species, all plants carry the same herm genetics of which science still hasnt found yet.

If its not a real male, or I didn't myself force it to become male bitch. I will kill it, cause any pollen from a plant that is a hermie or has hermied on its own contains no kind of genetics that I want in my breeding program. And that's just stage one, cause after that any clone from that plant will then need to pass my stress testing, (I purposely starve them repeatedly, I also light stress the shit out of them, and I also use random light schedules in both veg n' flower, and then I also flower them in constant high 85%+ / low max 25% humidity), and only then does a plant have a right to be added to my breeding program if it doesn't hermie. And on average, its about 1 in 8 plants from seeds and 1 in 10 clones that i have been gifted that make it through my stress testing... Yeah a lot of them so called elite clones out there are hermies, so always be careful adding any plant to your breeding program!

I understand your point and respect all the effort you must have to go through doing these types of experiments.

With that being said, why is that one of your main points of selecting? I personally would judge by vigor, structure, flower time, bud smell, taste, and high much before how they react when you purposely do everything you can to basically fuck them up. And very importantly if they herm in a good controlled environment, then i agree they should be in the trash can.

I think a dialed in room is very important and if a plant that is above average can perform well in the situation, i would consider it regardless of if it herms after being beat up by stress. I would hope it would never have to go through that to show me its balls.

Wow, thanks for all the info guys, I find this to be quite an interesting topic, and I just got some seeds from a hermie plant, so quite excited to see how they turn out now.

I grew out 10 seeds that were from a herm and a female that was seeded by it. All ten first showed as female, within 2 weeks 3 had nuts and flowers so i killed them after a month i pulled another one for growing sacks. Out of the remainimg six two were really nice the other four were decent they all ended up with 5-10 seeds in them from the hermies

Sweet, thanks for the info, yeah i hope not too many of these will hermie, the guy who grew the plant which the seeds came from suspects it hermied cus he was moving his plants around a lot, putting them outdoor during the day, so hopefully the genetics are relatively stable.
