The girls are certainly in their stretch period, but I am hoping that will be over in the next week or two. They are also telling me that I am not being aggressive enough with their feedings, so I am pushing them up into the 400's. I keep forgetting how fast they can require the PPM's to rise..

You can also see they are starting to form their buds.

I Picked up some Liquid KoolBloom and changed over to GH Simple Feed - Drain to Waste - Formula. I am not going to be adding the Floralicious, or the Rapid Start, just the KoolBloom, and change my ratios accordingly. I am hoping to pack on some weight with this run.

I also trimmed them up around the bottom a little in order to keep it easier to water and control any side branching early.

Looking good my man. Keep it simple. Glad you are not one of those who thinks they need every additive in the catalogue. Lol. What light are you using again?

Ya, I'm not really big on the additives, but I do want to see if I can plump em up a little more.. Dont need all the "Aroma" Crap.

I'm using only a 400w HPS Cool Tube,, Just replaced the bulb with a Brand New one on the day these girls went into flower :hump:

Just a Quick Update!!

Girls seem to be still begging for more juice, but they are finally starting to darken up for me. It looks like I need to get them up into the 1.0ec range for tomorrow's feeding. Last two days have been 450ppms (.5 conv).. I decided that I am not ramping up their nutes fast enough, and im babying them too much.

A couple of my Moms are really bushing up nicely. I should be able to start taking clones in another week or so.

They really love the GH 3 Part in a 1-1-1 Ratio, under CFL.. Wish I had more space for them :blsmoke:

Couple questions if you don't mind.

1. How do you plan on keeping the size of the Moms down?
2. What type of CFL's do you hvae the Moms under?

I ask because I haven't grown in a few years and just ordered equipment to get back into the swing of things. This time around I have no room for Moms in the cabinet I'll be flowering in. I have some limited space else where I would like to utilize for the Moms. Very interested in how much light your giving yours and how you plan on keeping them small.

Also did you pick the moms when they were flowering and have them go back to veg?

Any advise be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

No Problem Man!!

1. How do you plan on keeping the size of the Moms down?
-- We usually take a couple rounds of Clones per Mom and dont keep them very long, so they really dont have a chance to get very big. I will take a round of clones, then put them back into veg until the smaller clone sites get bigger, then we take those and pretty much strip mine the plant, then toss it. We will have topped the Mom by this point, and that TOP, will become a new Mom, and the cycle starts over again. We have been doing this for the last couple of grows now, so we always have plants ready to go.

2. What type of CFL's do you hvae the Moms under?
--- Each plant has a 55w CFL over them. In a 2'x2' tent, I can get 4 plants squeezed in with (4) 55Watt CFLs.

I have not taken any clones while a mom was in Flower,, Any Topping or cloning is done while in Veg..

Let me know if you have any other questions :-P

Hmm...Well I'm starting from seed and once the plants started to show sex I'd like to take some clones. You think this would be an issue? If I use your method after that I should be good

Rusty Shakelford

Well-Known Member
No, Not an issue at all.. Just Veg the Seedling like any other plant, top it using the Uncle Bens Technique so you get 4 Tops, and when your ready, take your clones and move the plant into Flower. Then all you have to do is keep the cycle going..

Thursday Update!! Just for the Hell of it..

I think the stretch might be starting to slow down, but I do have a couple that really wanted to get taller than everyone else, but nothing too serious, so I just shifted them around a little. Other than that, I am still trying to get a handle on my PPM's.. I bumped up to 550 PPM's (.5 conv) yesterday, and it looks like they might be wanting it even higher,, So I might bump em up to 600 for tomorrow's feed and take it from there,, But if I could get my feed in the right range, they would be doing a little better.

Here are a couple of the Moms,,, Still doing great and starting to get a little tight in the Space and getting bushy,, with lots of Clone Sites :weed:

Green girls are looking good. I went back tithe first page and I couldn't find what nutes you are using.

Im just using the GH Flora Series 3 Part, and pretty much following the Bottle Guide.. I have bounced around a little on my strength using their guide, cause their full dose would pretty much fry them up, so I am kinda using the 1:2:3 ratio, but just enough of each to get my PPM's where I want them.

I started adding in the Koolbloom over the last couple of waterings, but I am concerned that I am adding it too early, and maybe I should hold off until after the 4th week.. Hard to say considering we are cutting out the Veg cycle completely, doesn't make it easy to follow the formulas.

Subbed, looking great, man! I'm wondering if maybe I will also make the move from 3 gallons to a cola-only SOG system. How strict are you with trimming so far? Only the main stem leaves stay on, or only cutting when the plants overlap?

Whats Up GIBB,,

I do a little light trimming around the base kinda early on, just to make it a little easier to water them without getting mix all over the place.. I am seeing a little side branching on a few that I will more than likely trim off this weekend, but only around the bottom area,, Then I will Defoliate at Week 4 to allow more Light penetration by taking off a bunch of Fan Leaves. Still working on how much and when, but my other 2 liter run didn't seem to mind the Defoliation, and it sure does allow for more light and air flow.

I will also prune anything that seems like it needs it, at any given time.. I figure as long as I don't overdo it, they will be fine, considering they have plenty of Sugar leaves and other greenery to bask in the light.

My other 2 liter run finishes up after next week, and its funny cause they look like Miniature Versions of the Big Plants (clone and big plants were same strain and mother).. Their cola's and Main Stem look just like the big ones did, they are just slightly smaller versions of them :-P

Finishing out 3 Weeks today and onto Week #4

Girls are looking fine,, Still bumping up the numbers, but they are flowering.. This Fruity Chronic Juice is a little Temperamental compared to the Northern Lights x Big Bud, so I dont think I will continue to grow that strain for anything other than clones.

I thought I would throw some pics of everything going in the flower tent right now. The 2 Liters in the Back have another week, then its time to start checking for Ripeness.

Here is a better shot of the 2 Liters in the back with a week to go.

Moms are still doing great! Took a few clones today, and put them back into the tent.

A couple more Northern Lights x Big Bud Moms.. Still have some growing to do, but their time will come:blsmoke:.

Looking good, Rusty, I've been sideline following your thread for over a week now, excited to see what your weight will be on the first round.. Expect more than 14g per plant dried? I'm getting ready to add a small hempy experiment setup to my grow room: 6 x 2l hempy bottles using a small 150w HPS that is sitting in the corner of my room doing nothing lol. I'll probably supplement with some 42w CFL. I have been growing soil SOG for a few months now, I have 36 under a 1000w HPS and another 30 under 600w HPS. 1000w is in a big kahuna reflector (HTG), digital 600w in a cool tube. right now growing with two strains - aurora indica (nirvana seeds) and BC gods bud, I average about 12-14g dried. I grew in aero-rails (stunkbuddy setup) for a while but got tired of all the work that goes into it.. Seems like hempy is the lazy way to grow hydro so Im gonna try it out... cheers

Welcome aboard Praetorian!! I have to say, that I SUCK and guessing weights, so I couldn't even begin to throw out any numbers, but I am really only expecting a mediocre yield on the Previous 2 Liter Run. They were kinda Squeezed in the Flower room before the Last BIG Grow was finished, so they were not really getting a good amount of light, etc, etc. Got a bit more stretch than I should have, and a bit more Side Branching, But they still look like their gonna finish just fine bongsmilie

I started out with Soil Grows, then moved to 4 Bucket RDWC for a while, then tried Hempy's in 3 Gallon Buckets, and it really worked well for me (just under 2.5-3oz per plant dried). When I did the RDWC, the plants just turned into a Jungle and overtook everything,, The soil run was a little Puny, and these Hempy's seem to be a little more manageable,, with the Freedom of Growing like Soil, and the Flexibility of Hydro, without all the Pumps, Tubing, Air Stones and Hassle trying to keep the Water cool and PH/PPM's in Check. Sure I have to Make, Mix and Water Daily, but that is just some time in the morning, and then you can pretty much forget about them for the day.

I am still trying to perfect my Feeding Schedule with these 2 Liters (considering Veg is being cut out completely), but that's only a matter of time.

I am doing this new round of 2 Liters as my REAL test run to see if its worth it, or should I go back to the Bigger Plant grows. I may also try Hempy SCROGGING depending on how these 2 Liters do.

Sounds like you got quite the Run Going yourself. I have been hearing great things about that Gods Bud!!

Definitely give the Hempy's a try.. Sounds like you have the knowledge from both sides of the fence (soil / hydro), so you should be able to Rock the Hempy's.

Yeah, its a pretty good setup for me right now, but Im always looking to try out some new stuff and different setups. I have tried soil plants with long veg times, LST, super cropping, topping, scrogging, DWC, aero rails, and now SOG with small plants in 1.5 gallon pots. The plants are in perpetual, harvest every three weeks, 22 plants at a time, average about 9-11 oz per harvest. My wife has medical and I just want to never run out of dried weight lol. She has a condition called cyclic vomitting syndrome and weed/bubble hash are the only ways she can function most of the time and between the two of us we go through well over a zip a week.

The 150 Im going to use was the very first light I ever bought and now I dont use it for anything LMAO.. Im going to put the setup between my other two grow so it will get some light cast from both the 600 and 1000 too. If all goes well and I can dial in the nute schedule and boost the output I might switch over to hempy for the three cycles under my 600. Im going to run botanicare nutes as they were left over from my stinkbud aero rail setup from a few months ago - pro bloom, sweet, cal-mag, hydroplex and luquid karma. I run a simple fox farms nute schedule for my soil plants; I just got use to the setup with those nutes and really dont want to switch now.

As for the gods bud, we love the stuff. I have a pheno that is more sativa than indi, I can leave them to go for 12-13 weeks and they still are adding weight. great stuff. Ive had the same clones since I started growing 2.5 years ago. Maybe I'll start a grow journal once I get my hempys started. I have 8 aurora clones in my aero cloner, started about 5 days ago, I should have roots in 3-4 days. I'll leave them in the cloner until the roots are long enough to just go into the 2l bottles with roots at the bottom/reservoir.

Nice!! If you start your Hempy's certainly keep a journal so me and the rest of the Hempy buffs can comment and follow along :bigjoint:

I also love my Sativa's, and have some Acapulco Gold seeds that I am dieing to pop, but not sure how or if I can figure them into my equation.
