Help with Fox Farm feeding

First, this was posted with zero response in the main forum so I figured perhaps Id find more help in this forum. Sorry if it's not really an organics question.

Got a fert question for you guys. I added some Fox Farm Marine Cuisine to my outdoor plots today and watered them thoroughly. I plan to move my plants into the plots probably next weekend. I bought Fox Farm Grow Big the other day to help with the vegetative growth. Got it home and realized its the Hydro version, not the soil version. Took it back to the store and was told that most ppl just use it in soil with great success so I kept it. Not feeling all to confident on that..

Anyway, I plan to get Big Bloom soon and maybe the Tiger Bloom as well. MY question is about the feeding routine. My plots are very out of the way and I will only be visiting them once a week, 2 times a week at the very most. THe schedule most ppl seem to use is "water, water, feed". Would I be ok then to just use the ferts once every 3 weeks? or should I really try and make it out 2x a week and then would be giving ferts every 1.5 weeks?

Also, checked out the feeding schedule here:

Perhaps I'm not reading this right, but isn't this saying to use both Grow Big and Big Bloom throughout veg?? I thought it was just Grow Big til you saw flowers and then switch ? I just need to know if I should be buying Big Bloom now, or if it can wait til the plants start to flower...

On my Grow Big "hydro" bottle it says, " When plants have reached their peak vegetative growth and are starting to show first signs of flowering switch to Big Bloom". Perhaps this only applies to Hydroponics?

Anyone with experience that can explain this to me would be a great help. Thanks

i am using the foxfarm linup shown in that schedule. i follow the schedule and feed every other watering and plain water every other. i use 1/4 strength unless one of the plants looks like it needs a little more, then i up it a little. i went to half strength and started to get a slight nute burn because i started using the solubles also. i think the solubles are pretty strong so 1/4 strength is working for now. whatever it says to mix in for that week, like week 7 would be grow big, big bloom, tiger bloom and beastie blooms all mixed in to the water.

i also vegged. for 6 weeks so i didnt start my week 5 on the schedule until i actually switched to 12/12 which was week 7 for me. so i just extended using week 4 nutes until i switched to 12/12. your growing outdoors so you will have to wait until you see the plant go into flowering when mother nature tells it to.

If I was going to grow outside, I'd probably mix up my own soil and add dry ferts like bone, blood, kelp meal and jersey Greensand and try to run some irrigation with small plastic tubing (water is heavy).

yea you change between the two when vegging/flowering

See, this is what confuses me. Half the ppl I ask tell me to use Grow big for veg. growth and then to switch to Big Bloom when you first see flowers. The rest of the ppl I ask tell me to follow the feeding schedule which tells you to use BOTH Grow Big and Big Bloom at the same time for Veg.

I'm a first timer and growing outdoors in an off the beaten path location which will make it harder for me to fix things if they go wrong. THis is why I'm trying to figure out this process before hand. I'm using Fox Farm Marine Cuisine as a general fertilizer and hoping to use Grow Big and Big Bloom (maybe even TIger BLoom) to maximize results.

I think part of my uncertainty comes from the fact that the schedule seems to be geared towards indoor grows where you just flower the plants at a certain week and change your feeding routine. I guess I'm looking for help in a general feeding routine on how to use the Fox Farm trio in an outdoor setting. Since I can't change the lights to force flower, do I just use Grow Big and Big Bloom together for veg and then once I see the onset of flowers switch over to the Tiger Bloom and Big Bloom formula???

When I got the bottle home I immediately realized I had the wrong bottle and that the NPK was drastically different. I understand the NPK of the soil bottle since from what I've gathered, plants need N in veg.... so what's the deal with the Hydroponic formula of the same product having such a different ratio????

I paid 30$ Cdn for the bottle... no shit it's expensive. the 7lb bag of marine cuisine and grow big together came to 90$ Cdn.

just to let you know big bloom is a soil conditionaer so tigerbloom is needed as well to supply the plants with proper nutrients so yes use both of them. use 4 tablespoons of big bloom per gallon of water. i personnally use 3 teaspoons of tiger bloom per gallon. in between waterings i switch to molasses @ 1 tablespoon per gallon.

Thank schmitra.
Looks like I'll be using Big BLoom the most then. I should go and pick up a bottle ASAP. If I do the water, water, fert routine, then it looks like I'll be feeding grow big and big bloom about every 10 days or so, provided I make it out to water 2x a week. To start off, something like Saturday - water, tuesday - water, Saturday- grow big + big bloom .. etc.

Noticed that it says big bloom is safe to use every watering. Should I still just use it when I use grow big and tiger bloom to feed, and leave the water days for pure water?

THanks

i only use the big bloom with the other nutes during feeding and just plain water for the every other. i grow mostly in containers and use 1/4 strength, but since you are outdoors you can use a higher strength.

Thanks for the help guys. I went to another hydroponics store today (we have 4 in town) and was told that Fox Farm products are actually illegal to bring into Canada. This store (not the one I bought the Grow Big from) happened to have a few bottles of Tiger Bloom for sale though. The owner said that occasionally their supplier will throw a few FF products into a shipment but if they are seen at the border they are confiscated. Not sure why..

Anyway, I asked about using the Hydro version of Grow Big with soil and was told that it should be just fine as long as I pay attention to the amounts used. He also knew that the store I bought the FF stuff from was the only one in town that was somehow getting it. That explains the 30$ bottles..

Ok i first came to this page looking to find out what you guys are using for Big Bloom dosage as the fox farm soil feeding schedule never goes over 2 tablespoons every other watering, but on the back of the bottle it says different. First off it says to use 1/2 cup per gal water at first signs of flowering. Has anyone tried using a that much during first week of transition to flowering?
Now to correct and help you it seems your having trouble reading your fox farm schedule BEATS.
I hope you understand that you only give Veg. nutrients during early flowering which is the only time they need a boost of nitrogen, low amounts of nitrogen are needed throught the bloom stage and its better during veg. stage to get your plants leaves darker green before going to 12/12. After u switch to 12/12 this is transition to flowering stage for week 1 and 2. Next, early flowering is week 3 and 4. Then, aggresive flowering week 5 and 6. Finally, Ripening flower stage week 7 and 8+.
