Help with 600 watt tent

I just set up a tent this evening, and could use a little help

tent 1.jpgtent 2.jpg

Sorry those are the best pictures I could get. Was tired of messing with it to be honest. I'm going to wake up when the lights come on in the morning and address the issues I'm having:

1. Heat - up to 91*F ???
2. Tent looks/feels as if it's going to implode due to ?negative pressure

I am using:
6" Yield Master II Air-Cooled Hood
2. 100 CFM Duct Booster - pulling air thru hood from far left side of tent, past bulb, out far right side.
3. 435 CFM 6" Hurricane Inline Fan - pulling air thru carbon filter and exhausting out roof
4. 550 CFM 6" x 24"Phresh Carbon Filter
5. 4" Duct booster type fan Unknown Brand - Intake
6. 600 watt Lumatek Ballast dimmable 360, 400, 600, Super 600
7. 600 watt Ultra Sun MH conversion bulb

My current "Night Time" temp is 73F. 50% RH - That is what I was wanting to get my Day Time Temp & RH down to. I am going to have to play with the vents tomorrow morning and see if I open up the one in the back, or crack the back door if I can get the pressure in there to even out. Right now with only the exhaust, from the middle down the walls are sucked in. If I open the door just a little it relaxes. Any suggestions here would be greatly appreciated. Will check up on this in the morning and get better pictures if needed.

Nice set up man... I see you upgraded haha. Wish I could offer advice but I'm a noob too. Hows that short rider treating you haha

Thanks buddy. I am in love with the short rider. It tastes so delicious... can't wait to see what I can pull off now that I've upgraded a little bit. I know it's far from top-notch, but I don't think I'll out-grow this setup very quickly. There will be a second tent down the road for veg/clone/mother plants but not until the present short rider gets harvested and tent gets "dialed in".

Ur old lady find the garden yet????

Id by pass the duct booster fan and use that 6inch inline to exchange the air in tent and cool the light. Run it filter> hood> fan> out. Thats alot more cfm to cool your light. I run a 600w also in a 4x4 and keep my temps 76-79 with a 200cfm 4" inline. Ambient temps 73-75. Also id ditch the intake fan and open the flaps at the bottom of the tent and just have passive intakes

As for the neg pressure you could get a fan speed controler and run your fan at 75% or what ever works, or have more intake. I just have one flap saftey pinned open and it gives me just enough neg pressure. But you fan is double the cfm as mine so you would likely need more flaps open

I'm running a 600W in a 2x4x5 tent and the highest if seen my temp peak on a hot day is 85*f. I have my 6" 400cfm inline fan and filter outside the tent like this; Air-cooled hood>>>Ducting out of tent>>>>Inline fan straight to filter. You don't need so much vacuum, open up your intake. It will make you fan work harder and wont be able to exchange to air in the room as quickly.

Are you venting to just outside the tent or venting to outside the house?

MNMOBBINs post is good. You will need more fan to cool the 600.

Forgot to mention that you should add duct to every available port in the tent as passive intakes. I use two 4" 170cfm to cool two 400 watts and exhaust a 4 x 8 tent. I have 4 or 5 6" passive intakes and still get some negative pressure. I even have a duct booster fan on one of them.

It's easyiest to eliminate heat at the at the source, before it can build up in your room. That duct booster fan won't move enough air to cool your light or room no matter what they say the cfm rating is. Try using your 435 CFM 6" Hurricane Inline Fan to vent your light and room and open up some intake! I believe inline fans are more efficient at pulling air across the light rather then pushing it. What is the temp of your ambient air ouside the tent, or your intake air temp? Look at my setup, 600w in a 2x4x5 tent just like you! My temps are usually 75-78*, today they are on the high side because its hot as hell out and its 80*f in my house, yet its only 2*f hotter in my tent.

Thanks for all of the help. All the suggestions pretty well match what the guy at the hydroponic shop suggested. I took 5 seconds and drew up how I'm going to change the tent in the morning. Only thing I left out was there is a rectangular vent in the back door that I will have open for passive intake as well. I still want the negative pressure, but I don't think it's necessary to damn near implode the tent which is where I'm at now. This setup will eliminate the 6" duct booster that is currently attached to my hood. I think I will also ditch the intake fans & see what the temps look like.... if I need to add intake fans, I'll have 2 of the duct boosters instead of just the one. Anyways, let me know if this looks about right. Any comments would be appreciated.

Mdeva- the way you have it drawn up is funky... The air will pull from the side with less resistance which will be the light (im guessing) It might not exchange the air in you tent as well as you would like.

Id strongly advise setting up how major toke has it drawn up. Thats how pretty much every one fan setup ive seen is including my own.

Whats your rooms ambient temp? Thats the ultimate factor. my house has no central air so I have to run a 5k portable ac just for the room. Hopfuly only for another month anyways, that sucker costs more to run then my light.

The only issue I see with how he has it drawn up is it's not using cool air from the room to cool my hood. Just warm air that gets sucked thru the carbon filter. Am I looking at that wrong? I will try it both ways to see which works best for my environment. My ambient temp is 70 +-3°

I have 2 tents in one room, each with a 400w light, and we had to upgrade to a larger window unit to get the heat down at all...sometimes you need something that cools, along with the fans to blow.

I run my tent the way that majortoke drew it up except i do not have a duct booster, just passive intake.
I have a 3x3x7 tent with a 600 watt hps. The tent is always about 3-5 degrees hotter than the room it is in.

The way you drew it up will not work the air goes the way of least resistance.

Sorry, your right i have no idea what i'm talking about. I just got back from the hydo store and i was talking to this guy there who has over 20 years experience and he said you will need a 16,000BTU air conditioner, 2 more 6" 435cfm hurricane fans, and 17 more duct booster fans, then you should be good to go.

1st off - wasn't trying to be a smartass to majortoke. Just was told I would want to pull air from outside the tent past the light to keep it the coolest. I hooked it up both ways to see which I liked better. Right now It's hooked up the way I drew it up, and it's running 75F 48% RH. It ran 77F 50% the way that majortoke drew it up, but it was hotter in the house at that time. I guess they work about the same. I know people are saying that air will follow least resistance - but there is more than enough air being pulled thru the carbon filter & hood. I just burned one and all the smoke gets pulled toward the filter - outside the room everything is pulled into the tent thru either the hood port, or the passive intake below it. I'm happy with the way it's set up - I know either would work just fine. Thanks for the help.

The carbon filter will get more clogged as you go, creating more resistance.
There is no reason to split going to the destinker.
