Help Needed With Clone

I cut some larger older leaves off this clone two days ago and this is what happened to it.



Any ideas? Not sure what or why.....

Why did you cut them off? Rooting clones need those leaves to feed on while they develop roots.

Aside from that it looks like you have some hydroton issues. I see some algae, and it just doesn't look clean overall. Hydro is not a gentle environment that clones or seedlings can just ease into like soil.

A mild, and I mean mild concentration of grow nutes isn't entirely inappropriate, but I don't think that's your problem. The clone looks like it's having trouble developing roots because it's overwhelmed by all the hydroton (which doesn't appear to be properly conditioned).

How rooted was the little sucker before you planted it in all that hydroton?

it had good healthy roots and had even begun sprouting leaves....those are the new ones that are dying..

Like 2nd answerer said.. hydro is not a great medium to put clones right away. I presume this did not even root yet?

Cutting some larger leaves off a clone is ok.. but don't do it here and there. Do it when you first took the cutting and made the cuts.

Did you make 45 degree cuts on the stem? did you use gel or powder?

Honestly could be temp too high.. too much direct light.. but I am guessing it is not getting enough water in the hydro..

Best for clones IMO is the rapid rooters..

sry just saw that.. so if it was rooted I'm not so sure anymore. My rooted clones go straight to hydro too.

I just dont think its kick started by trimming off some leaves of the clone..

But yah next time if its rooted already.. no need to cut anything. People cut off some of the clone leaves PRIOR to rooting.. to make it easier to root with less the plant has to sustain.

You probably should of let them root more. Putting them in hydroton rips off some of the roots. Might of taken off most. Just give it 100 ppm of rooting solution and see what happens. And never cut leaves off. Let them die on there own till you can put them off. After a week or so in veg you can start topping and training the plant. Just think of all the stress it went thru to root. And you just stressed it out by placing in the clay. So adding more isn't good.
