I dont know man I have one lamp HPS (600w) on one square meter and Im looking for to get that to be more efficent maybe 200-300 watt per square meter, but with the same amount of the finished product or near as with HPS lamp.
cutting the power in half might be attainable but youd be running LEDs super soft. prob $3-5 a watt to do that with a DIY rig

Hey guys! What do you think about King plus grow lights double chip 600w?? Any experience ? It says the actual power consumption is 120watts? I mean if thats true thats very efficient.. They say it replace a 600 w HPS in the terms of the light.. Thanks :)

anybody who says they can replace an HPS at half the wattage or less is full of shit and they do not deserve your money
5/8 is doable though. Not that comp. should advertise like that & shit bum comp. using crap aren't even close. But from a consumer standpoint, that's what I see.
Although w/ my other system, I'm at exactly half the hps watts to yield the same on the high end. Just in light. Never mind fans n room. They don't advertise that but it's fact found grow after grow.

Super false claim, like Cobby said.

I hear you. You could get efficient LEDs & use almost 1/2 the fuel. That would be big I'd think. Especially 1/2 the time fueling up. There's the real bitch about a generator. Plus it's emissions & noise but there's ways around that.

OP you should experiment with a little LED next to your HPS until you get a feel, before you go making major purchase decisions.

with the combination of an efficient LED, keeping it at a uniform 700 PPFD, and, excellent canopy maintenance you should be able to double your grams per watt. in your situation you need to be super efficient

Plenty of ways to utilize lights towards your environment you need to find what fits your needs.

If you live somewhere cold and run a bottle/burner, you'll probably want a gas bulb to prevent using a heater with lights and the dehu will run less oftenly

If you live somewhere hot, cob's running efficiently will save you a bit from the a/c not running so oftenly but you might find the dehu running more oftenly.

Hello! I dont know what DIY means?
Can you explain? The idea was to know a substitute light anywhere near the quality of the HPS in the terms of the weight of the final product?
Because I am thinking to go on 20mx20m and thats the lot of kilowatts. You cannot pay for them because they will notice the big electricity bill! You cannot steal them cause they will notice the losses.
Maybe I could just stick to HPS and buy a generator for lamps... Thanks :)
Off-grid solar....

That depends on what you want, remember you can buy 4 HPS ballasts for the price of a midrange LED setup.

I am looking to buy a lights. I am looking for best replacement for HPS with good efficiency. I have my reasons and its not about money. Im thinking to go on bigger project and here in Europe you dont want to steal an electricity. Thanks :)
Hi!
I'm from Europe also and decided to go led route. Mostly because of summer heat since I don't use ac. I replaced 400w hps for 5 cxb 3590 cobs at 50w. Ordered my parts from alibaba seller KingBrite (they have all sorts of Cree, Vero and Citizen). Good prices and superb customer service and arrived in 4 days iirc.
For bigger replacements and keeping costs downb citizen lights seem to be most bang for your buck.
