Help! Brown bud (pics)

So this is about 30 days into flowering. It’s warm Ca weather (hasn’t been too humid nor have we had any rain recently). It’s an outdoor grow. I have been lollipopping quite a bit. I know when I’ve taken some of the leaves and branches off, I’ve been pretty sloppy about it (and makes me think the brown patch is due to lack of water and nutrients because how deep the wound is in the lower part of the stem. I have seen some flying bugs on the plants, but I haven’t seen any worms (and am well familiar with worm damage and mold). This looks more like worm damage than mold but I wanted to get a second opinion. General Hydroponics line is what is being used on these. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could it be a caterpillar entrance? Agree pull it off. Note the leaf directly below and the one behind also affected, will be dry and dead soon. Do you have BT?

Yep bud rot from those damn Tobacco worms! Sorry man but once it gets that far...it just keeps going!

Get your jewelers loupe out and at dawn start hunting them out in between buds!

Anywhere you see a brown leaf in a green bud, look at it close. There will be a baby worm deep in the bud. Rot is not far behind. Get some BT and spray them down good.
