So I have two clones and the top colas on both of them aren't developing nearly as nicely or quickly as the lower branching. The top buds are stretching, coming in very sparsely and I'm trying to figure out why. They are being grown under a 400w HPS in FFOF soil only. They were both started in rockwool and then transplanted into soil, one at day 14 of flowering and one at day 19. I was told not to add nutes for two week, just boosters if I was going to use them. I watered one with H20 only for 4 weeks, then began adding flowering nutes at ~1/2 strength (Age Old Bloom 5-15-5). The other plant got 1/4 strenght Beastie Bloomz only in the first 4 weeks, then another dose of 1/4 strength beastiez and 1/2 strenght age old bloom at day 43 of flowering. I was told to water based on the weight of the pot and the feel of the soil about an inch down. This has resulted in me only watering the soil about every TWO WEEKS. It seems odd, but I definitely don't want to overwater and the soil seems to be retaining water well (there are the big grodan delta cubes that the clones were grown in in the soil with the plants-I wasn't going to go the soil route at the outset). These are being grown under 400w HPS, pH of water I add is ~6.3, run off was slightly under 6 for both. The tops of the plants are about 24" away from the light, which is in a cool tube so they could be closer, but I have one big plant about 6 weeks older than these clones that is taking up more of the light and space than it should but that will change in two days when it's chopped. There is a circulation fan running all the time in the grow room as well. The plants are sativa dominant hybrids, and they take forever to finish flowering (100 days flower for the one getting chopped Thurs). You can see how weak the top looks in the picture. The other picture is one of the nugs that is forming on one of the bottom branches. All the lower buds seem to be coming in much denser and larger than the top, so I don't understand. I do plan on integrating molasses into the feed schedule. Any help is appreciated.
