I was wondering if any of you guys have grown 6 plants with a 400 watt lamp,

It seems that its not enough light and my plants will just have fat top colo's and no side buds, the light seems to not cover all areas of plants cause of foilage, the guys are ranging from 3-4 feet tall 25 days flowering

should I buy another 400 watt lamp asap

oh I have my card and im alowed 90 plants in my county but only have 6 to be safe

thanks merry xmas

considering how big they are you might be able to use more light but im sure they'd finish ok with what you have. maybe just buy some 40w CFL's and add a few of those around the sides/bottom where they need a little extra light

if uve got the cash , sell ur 400 and buy a 600 with some cfls for the sides/bottom, because no matter how much light uv got shining down if the plants bush out then its not gaunna reach the bottom. another alternative if possible would be to buy another 400 and split ur grow, giving them more space to bush out. ur growing the same amount of plant as myself but i'm using 1000hps in my tent( 4' x 4' x 6.5') but i've just moved one plant out under a 400hps to give them all more room. it was a pain in the ass setting up a separate grow are for 1 plant but i'm certain i'm gaunna reap the benefits. i'm also at day 25/26 of flower although my plants are a little taller.

I think 1 plant per 100 Watts is a good starting point. Perhaps a 250 Watt would suffice? You could put 4 under the 400, and 2 under the 250. Adding a few 42 Watt CFL's for lower and sides was a good suggestion. Perhaps 2 for the 4 plants, and 1 for the 2 plants, rotating your pots every 6 hours or so.

DO you have Mylar on the walls? every little bit helps.. But like they all said if you are able to buy more lights that's always best...MO LIGHTS MO BETTER... PEACE

Ideally you should buy another 400watter..If you can't do that, just make sure that you are rotating your plants everyday. You should still get a respectable harvest with the one 400watter...Good day Sir!!!

The idea of full light penetration to all parts of the plant is overrated but, yeah, 6 plants definitely pushes the boundary of what one 400W can do. I had 4 5-footers under one 400W last year and that was def the max.

Man, if I could legally have 90 plants... shit, no tellin' how many lights I would have.

But if you decide to stick with one lamp, rotating plant position daily is helpful. I've also used tethers to tie the main colas aside just a little to get more light on the next tier of branches, while still keeping them in a strong portion of the light. Lastly, I also had some of my plants mature top-down last year, so I cut the colas and lowered the lamp to the rest of the plant for an extra 2-3 weeks -- really fattened up those lower nugs that way.

The doc didn't say country, he said county. If you can afford it doc, I would go with three six hundreds. They will give you better coverage than two thousands and are much more efficient to boot.
