well people were i am they fly over with a air testing unit of some sort to bust meth labs!! it takes them a long time to do it too!! for weed it only takes a second to see and record the heat they wont hang out to long for weed but i have seen them hover over a block for a long time testing the air for meth fumes. its real bad were im at because its all farm land here and the shit they need to make it is all over the place in tanks(anhydroise) there is big round things on the front that reads the air and they follow it like a bloodhound on a trail!!

maybe accidents near the area?

a heli flys over and around my house in big ass circles REGULARLY. but thats because of the fucked up traffic signal down the street. so I can imagine its a hot spot for heli news coverage

hey man, heres my educated opinion, you live a mile from an airport you say...i too lived about a mile from an airport a few years ago and constantly they had helis landing and taking off...thats what and where the do what they do..refuel and what not. id be more suspicious of an airport that had no traffic but still operated.

if you are still worried id take note of the type and color and any other distinguishing marks and see what frequents your area of the sky. commercial and medical helis look very different from police and dea helis. usually they(police and dea) are black green or marked with the obvious police markings....still this is not a cause for concern because the airport i spoke of regularly had police and military helicopters flying in and out...as i said before they have to take off somewhere..who knows they may have the only pad for 100 miles at that airport and the police and government many times "port" their ship at a local small airport for regular maintnence and storage...someone else in this thread mentioned that it costs alot to fly these badboys...so true...unless you got a watcher you are fine

as to the starter of this thread i think that the fact that you saw a copter at the grow and multiple at the other guys house thats cause for concern...i keep thinking of ray liota in goodfellas...id say doo as suggested and suppliment light just to keep em vegging for a week or so and keep a log of strange activity...if it seems things ease up...turn em on in stages...say 1 then 3 then 5 or slower if you like

Is it legal in cali to automatically grow for medical, with no permit or whatnot? I would think you would have to register with someone no?

No im not from cali, I was wondering is all. When I was reading this, I got to thinking if a helicopter should even worry you folks from cali. But yeah, I suppose with the way laws are formed, there are always complications, and many pages of red tape to deal with.

I've had 2 offices upstairs until yesterday with 6 computers running. I moved them downstairs and put the grow room up there yesterday. I had 2 1000W HPS bulbs blazing when they got here but I have panda film over the window and am directing the hot air into the house. I turned off both the lights right away.
The panda film over the windows (blacked out) is more a flag to them.

Thermal cams don't read windows (glass, bare aluminum, etc) well, very low emissivity and high reflection. A level I thermographer can dispute this in court voiding the warrant. Put a piece of electrical tape on the outside of the window and the tape will light up hot while the glass is showing whats outside. (Using a sheet of lightly crinkled alum foil is the standard way to calibrate a cam for reflective temp)

Houses have insulation. Its job is to block heat transfer. Plus the cams work best when there is a 15F diff between inside and outside. If its 100F out and your room is at 80F, the sun will be the one heating things up.

Wintertime is more a concern; shows up better.

Its kinda legal by cali laws, but the feds still say its a no-no.
