a few years ago i got my legs tore up by a dog and i couldn't walk for a couple weeks because the swelling constricted the nerves, and one of my arms was the same way. i waited till 11 pm and did my shopping at the 24 hour supermarket so i could use the scooter and not feel bad about hogging it. i was also concerned that someone i knew that was unfamiliar with my injury would see me and tell everybody what a lazy hypocritical asshole i was. just looking at me you would just think i was a lazy pudgy person. it took me 15 minutes to get from my car to the scooter, and i made sure to call ahead to see if the scooters were "broken" that day. i would never tie up one of those things if i didn't need to, especially after that ordeal. it's bad enough having the limited mobility and then feeling the burn of pity-eyes, but to have to then wait around for a scooter so some lazy turd can glide around like an asshole would have been ridiculous.

i honestly haven't seen a young healthy looking person on one of those around here in years. it's frowned upon by everyone i know. i also see very few people parking in handicapped spaces without the placard. i've seen more than one concerned citizen bitch out the parking spot hogs. it's weird when i think about it because this is otherwise a very rude place to live, but i've seen a lot of overt defense of the handicapped.

I have to spread it around too.
No shit. Several years back I was in Safeway with my dad. We were walking down an aisle when I saw a woman knock some products off a shelf and started to walk away. I ran over and began picking the stuff up to avoid an accident when I heard a guy starting to berate her. He went on for several minutes until she interrupted him and said, "Sir, if you can lead me to the spot I would be more than glad to pick them up. I'm blind." Her sister had gone around the corner to the next aisle to pick up a single item. The guy turned beet red and walked away without saying another word.

My husband looks healthy and he is in congestive heart failure. So much for making assumptions by appearances only.
maybe your right but sorry about your husband, but when you see a couple in there early thirties run in the store and jump on the scooters makes you think.

I had somebody bitch me out for parking in a handicapped spot. I pulled in, put up the placard, hopped out, and was walking up to the store when some asshole says to me "What makes you so fucking disabled?" Imagine my finger going up as I walked back out, wheeling an 8 year old boy in his wheelchair. You never know what health issues a person is facing, even if they look healthy. Don't judge on appearances. A lot of things you just can't see.

 That...is terrible but I couldn't help but laugh. I'd just curl up and die right there on the floor if I berated a blind person on accident.

Why can't a blind person pick things up? obviously she heard the things fall off of the shelf.

Fuck that, that's just laziness.

they should issue them only for disabled people (maybe have some kid checking it (hey job creating))

and then have one or 2, just for everyone

and mark them in bright colors, so everyone knows these are just for fun.+

so it was wrong to have the scooter smash up derby in the store the other day?

no j/k i would never ride a scooter its like riding an ugly chick its all fun till your friends see you

and that blind chick probly had super hearing. heard that shit falling before it hit the floor. probly could have caught it in mid air.

all kidding aside those scooters are for people who need them. and not everyone follows the rules but just because someone looks healthy and can walk doesnt mean they dont need to use the scooter.

and i am sorry i didnt mean to hurt any ugly chicks feelings.
