Re-posting due to not getting far the frist thread' i got a dwc, 39ltr res, ph is 5.8-6.0
i've got a rockwool cube inside a net pot with clay pebbles around the sides and covering the cube. in the frist thread someone said to feed it has it hadn't been fed up till that point. the pics got abit messed up so theres before feeding pic and after being fed. picture 1,2,3,5,6+9 are after feeding and 4,7,8, are before feeding.
As you can see apart from growing alittle theres not much difference between the before and after pics. The only things that ive added to the res is 1ml of liquid silicon'
i got the res up to 0.4 ec but my ec meter isn't going back to 0 sometimes so dont know if that 0.4 ec is 100% right? I'd be really gratefull if anyone could help me out, thanks guys scunk

You added liquid silicone this early on ? I was lead to believe that small plants do not need silicone supplements ?

My water is 0.1 ec, i thought that it could used from the start but im not sure so ill take your word for that

Your running .4 EC ? Shouldnt you be running a little higher ? Are the cuttings established in the root block ?

i did it from seed, fem lemon skunk' i fucked up on the frist dwc with too much nutes and in the last few days my ec meter is playing up. when i took a reading of the res the other day it was or said 0.4 with isn't much given but i burned the last grow with only 0.4 in 1 ltr of water and added to res.

i haven't had a res change yet as i red so many difference's where loads said that they only changed before going into flower and the flush 2wks before harvest

only other thing i added to the res before anything went in was aqua-safe' immediately turns tap water into fish and plant safe water.

So exactly how much nutrient did you add to the res ? in volume say 20 ml or 50ml and so on.

also I have never heard of anyone using aquasafe. I am unsure if its necessary, just leave the tap water for 24 hours to rid yourself of the chlorine. My tap water is .3 EC after 24 hours standing. If your water is only .1 you certainly dont need to add anything else to clean it.

i think i may have solved my own prob but would love some feed back' on the packet of the water safe thing. it says aquasafe neutralised: chlorine and chloramine and eliminated heavy metals like copper, zinc, and cadmium are bound completely. essential elements that are present in natural enviroments are added: lodine for vitality, magnesium for growth and well-being, vitamin b to support healthy stree resistance. Bioextracts support the development of beneficial bacteria for clean water. is this ok for skunk plants?

one and a half ml in total to a 39ltr res i know' three and ahalf ml in totall' last time i got the res up to 0.4ec it took about 20ml but it died after that yeah

I would take it back. I have had a google around and several people use aquasafe but I would still be a little wary of it personally. Surely they should be able to take a bit more than that. You should be putting in 20 ml if not more because that should still be fairly low EC in a res that size.

I would ditch the aquasafe start on a quarter of the minimum dose on the bottle (possibly a little less) and do a res change.

I dont grow hydro so all advice is provided as is from my experience in other gardens. Please take everything with a pinch of salt and make your own conclusion.

i just added 19ml to my res which works out at half a ml to 1ltr of water in the res as theres 39ltr's. if its too much it will show by tommorow afternoon. I was just looking at the roots when i added the nutes' about afew centremeters form the the roots coming out the bottom of the net pot the roots seem to be brown apart from afew cm from the top.
I cant remember how much nitroyme i put in which is like seaweed extrace really dark brown you know?

Hmm brown roots could be root rot. can you post a pic ?

I run beneficial bacteria in my dirt and the same principle applies to hydro unless you want to run a clean res and use h2o2 or something similar instead.

I think your EC was previously too low and you definately need to sort that meter out (i gotta bluelab truncheon 5 year warranty and they will even factory clean it if the calibration goes out). Whats the temp of your res ?

I am definitely suspecting somethings up with the brown roots.

Yet again I dont really have that much experience with hydro so my advice is as is.
