High All, I'm getting close to harvesting and have always trimmed up my buds as soon as i chopped the ladies down, thinking it is easier to trim fresh then dry? is my thinking right or wrong?? a friend said its MUCH better and easier to trim dry then fresh:joint:

Once I had to cut her down, then trim a few days later and it was much harder when dry. The leaves crumble and were curled up against the bud making it harder to get a close trim. I have heard people who trim when dry because all the leaves help it dry slower and make it cure better. I think its one of those things you'll have to try for your self to decide.

during last years outdoor grow we had experimented with having plants dry and then be trimmed which as above poster said the leaves cover the bud but if you are experienced with it then its not so bad, but what i recommend is doing a quick trim while wet to remove the fan leaves and then trim some of the smaller leaves that are in the bud and trim them down a little bit not all the way and then hang to dry and once they are dry to your liking go back ando a final trim, this method for us (weve dried hundreds of plants different ways) works the best.

You should experiment with drying styles and find what works for you.

For me its harder when they're dry. I pluck big and medium sized leaves by hand within minutes of cutting my plants down, then I follow it up with scissors to shape the buds. I'm actually harvesting right now as I write this. Just taking a quick break. I think this year I'll leave the shaping till after my buds have cured for about a week. I won't do it to all my buds, just a few branches to see how it turned out. I've shaped a nug here and there after the curing process and as long as the RH is around 65%-70% it's pretty easy and straight forward. It's when RH drops below 45% and the buds become crispy that it's a real pain in the ass (for me at least).

Make no mistake, the whole harvesting process is a bitch. The only fun I get from it is when I peel a layer of hash of my fingers, roll it into a ball, and smoke it while it still has that leafy taste. With bud, I have to cure it first otherwise it's to harsh, but with hash, the fresher the better. :)
