Happy Father’s Day

At my request, my boy came over on Friday to celebrate Father's Day. He brought over a lovely home cooked meal, hung out with me for 5-6 hours, and helped move things around for me so I would avoid injuring my back (brought an air conditioner downstairs, carried up heavy music equipment to and from my car, etc.). It is nice when your kids get to the age when they really start appreciating all that you did (and still do) to raise them, and want to get to know you better. He's 20 now, and turning out to be a really great person. I would choose to spend time with him even if he wasn't my kid. That's a huge endorsement from me as I really can't stand most people.

I am glad he appreciates you! Who wouldn’t want a father like you? He is one lucky young man and I am sure the envy of all his friends.

He was an awful man, and a HORRIBLE father. Plenty of physical and mental abuse for the whole family. Quite cruel. He was the main reason I initially never wanted to have children, as to not pass on any of that abuse. He was inspirational for me in raising my son, though. I'd often ask myself what my dad would do in a challenging parental situation, and simply did the opposite of that. It worked out pretty well. How about your father?
