2) Are you saying the sun is inside our atmosphere? How far away is the sun?

3) Where is Mt Meru?

The light that comes from noble gasses when electrical energy is discharged into it does not come from resistance. It comes from electrons absorbing electrical energy and then discharging energy in the form of a photon.

Electrical discharge into the noble gas increase energy of electrons orbiting the nucleus and they jump to a higher but unstable orbit. When the electron drops back to the stable "shell" or orbit, they shed the absorbed energy in the form of a photons.
