It has something to do with dimagnetic and dielectric fields. I'd ask reddan about it but he's gone silent.

You forgot to include the firmament in your drawing also Mt Meru. It's all explained here.

If what he says were true then Corporations would've bought the rights to build a massive coil around it and draw down all that electrical current.

No need to discredit the flat earth truth for one idiot though.
