ok here is a way to recover your experiment and maybe make up for all the things everyone pointed out.

grow both of these plants until you can take 2 clones from each and label them. root the clones and transplant so that you have 1 clone from each plant in the different soil in the same size container.

But to add my 2 cents. MG is good if you aren't looking for organics and don't care about a business's practices. The 3 months of nutes are for simple plants. Canna uses those up much faster. You will likely have to feed extra. And by that time, mg now has a "big bloom" type fert that is high in P and low in N. Good for finishing up a plant.

Miracle grow can work just fine but not the one with all the oxycote fertilizer balls or whatever. Kellogs patio plus is a 5 dollar bag soil that works perfect with a lil perlite.
