this is ironic..i have the exact same set up as u with 32 sights same heads and pump..
i was wondering if u think u need that many heads cuz i was only gonna do about 10 and buy a smaller pump for fear of that big of a pump could couse the res to heat up and get pathegens.. any thoughts?

good questions. I selected 36 sprayers to ensure that every section would get saturated. I investigated (up close) the equivalent EZ Clone, which is the 120-2" site. It is basically the same size with the same size manifold (I patterned mine after this), and has 26 sprayers. I decided to enhance mine just to be sure. The EZ Clone 120 uses a 900 GPH pump and works fine. I went as small as I could with Eco Plus (633) as their 396 was too small for this manifold. I still have to use a heater to keep temp at 73. You shouldn't have a heat problem from your pump, but I am no expert there. What size pump are you using? Got pics of your set up?

i'm still waiting for my heads to come in before i start but i have the same size pump, tote and heads and was planning on making the rectangle with the supports down the middle just like you did..the only diff is my lid is a little more rounded instead of flat...so you have plants in this now?..i will take pics when its done i was also debating on setting up a res on the side so that only roots would be in the tote but i don't know.

A unit like this would leave enough space for the plants to grow properly up top? I have seen many AP units and they all seem to grow the plants rather close, just wondering how this works.

well i got everything together and is almost just like yours..
i found that a trashbag cut in to strips and some silicone woked to keep the water from getting out and only put one seedling in for the first day cuz i can have some bad luck:-| but i wouldn't take back any of my faillins they have tought me well for the future

Nice aero tek...I'm doing a similar set up based on your design. I think their needs to be a disclaimer on using hole drills though I almost cut a hole in my leg drilling the holes!

How is it working?

"...so you have plants in this now?.."

Not yet, can't grow at home. waitin' on lazy partners to get grow spot together. I am very anxious though, and will begin to post a journal soon. :peace:

Great job HOHO! I'm diggin' your manifold. 38 sprayers? I'd keep it. I would set my rockwool at the bottom of the net pots, if necessary, so you could completely cover the top with hydroton to prevent algae buildup. If that is an airpump, it is not necessary. I feel you, trust me. I was on the same thing until one of my mentors schooled me on the fact that the fluids flowing through the pump/manifold gets thoroughly aerated. Nice job HOHO. I would just try to get a tote with a flatter lid, next time. That looks like the 50 gal. from Lowes (I got one ;-)).

I'm not sure why. I first tested this with 15 gal. water in the res. I had to use a heater to keep it on 73, and this was upstairs (but room temp still was around 68). Are you depending on a quality therm.?

i think i'm going to make a chiller out of a bucket full of ice water and a 25 foot hose and a small pump if it comes down to it.. my room is actually a little to warm to so that can't help..

well someone kindly let me know that the end of these pumps come off so u can run hoses and have it outside the res..:bigjoint:

my bad, HOHO. the cover does come off and inside there is a threaded inlet. you can connect a tip, and hose, then do the same for the outlet keeping the pump out of the fluids. but remember, the longer the hosing, the less pressure in the pipes.
