Greyskull, Im thinking about getting a groclone....would you recommend them? You said yours was the sloclone, hows that working out? I also have an e-z cloner, but it needs brand new insides and inserts and I just have it sitting collecting dust. Would it be worth fixing that up instead of the groclone?

I have 3 groclones one is full of candy purple, one is full of grape punch and one is full of grand daddy purple. I bought these units because of their low profile and met my space considerations quite nicely. The first run I cut 53 grape punch and 53 grand daddies, all of the cuttings developed a slimy film that looked liked cloning gel. Long story short only 3 of the grape punch cuttings took root vs. all of the grand daddies rooting (in spite of the slime). Here I am on the second round and the slime is back again! I have 2 EZ-Clones and have had 100% success every run, as I mentioned previously I only went with the Groclones because of their size. I would appreciate any feedback that could help eradicate the slimy film that seems to be stifling my efforts. Now it is time for a UK Cheese fatty!!!!!!

wiseguy316 are you using a groclone? I used to use cloning gel with rapid rooter plugs, but that has always seemed to slow the process dramatically when using a groclone or an ez-clone. I am not new to this (20 years and counting), it is just that I have never encountered the slime, let alone twice back to back until I started using the groclone units. This slime appeared two days after being in the groclone, it looks just like cloning gel but it ain't cloning gel. Just like last time the grand daddies are already showing signs of root development and the grape punch is developing an abundance of slime, the candy purples were just cut yesterday so there is no slime (yet!). Worst case scenario I break out the 2 ez-clones and give up the space I was trying to save (3 groclones @ 159 points take up less space than 2 60 point ez-clones) but get the clones I need. The room temp is a constant 75 and the groclone water temp is a constant 75 as well. I used spring water with a starting temp of 65 as the manufacturer recommended which is the only variable. I always used RO tap water with the ez-clones.

Hello Pakxal,
...pass that fatty on the left hand side...
Completely clean out the systems with full strength 3% H2O2, including let it run through the hose...or just replace the hose with a new sterile one.
Add a diluted solution of H2O2 (2 tsps of 35% food grade or 1/2 a cup 3% medical grade per gallon) to the reservoir and a 1/4 teaspoon of Superthrive per gallon.
To save the slimy ones add the same recipe to the reservoir. Then prepare a cup (doesn't matter size of cup...recipe matters) that has a recipe of 1 Tablespoon plus 1 Teaspoon per gallon. Take each cutting one by one, holding them by the plug and give it a real good swishing in the cup. 10 seconds of gentle swishing as though you were washing something off. Return to reservoir.
Voila'
Hope this works out for you. I know how hard all that work can be.
Peace
