you should try looking it up in the legal section.
i don't know how it is in canada, but where i am three clones would be a misdemeanor. most likely a suspended sentence. were they flowering? i don't understand why charged with 30 grams and not three plants? they don't have separate laws for plants?

i guess this isn't helpful, i guess i'm just curious to find out the difference.

you'll prolly have to pay a fine, and i would shoot for a diversion a.k.a classes, probation, community service. Don't trip... once you get to court they will amend the charges... they are just trying to freak you out.... and it seems to be working... FUCK THE SYSTEM!

that sucks bro, not only do you lose your babies you have to pay fines on em too.....its not as big a deal as your making it out probally too, you'll get a fine and probation(if they have it up there). you could challenge it if u want the law up there seems more understanding and reasonable than down here so u might be able to find a way out of it.

Hey buddy dont freak out yet i was wathcing cnn or some news channel like that and they were talkin how canadas marijauna law was basicily null and void because the law makers didnt rewrite it like a judge or whatever you call them told them to, they might have fixed it by now but im pretty sure the city they were talkin about was toronto i dont know i might be wrong but that is what i saw on news tv

in the states they can either charge you for the plant count or the weight. if your case were in my state, you would get a stiffer penalty for 30 grams(felony) than you would for 3 plants(misdeameanor). there will be no getting around it...the 3 clones weigh 30 grams of a substance containing cannabis, thares no arguing that in a court of law.

That really sux for you, but we all know what can happen when we started. We may not fully REALIZE just how bad shit can get, but we ARE engaged in an illegal activity, and that's just one of the possibilities we have to accept.
That being said, Canadian law isn't substantially different from ours. Both are base in English common law. The people involved aren't that much different either.

Sounds to me like you had the misfortune to get a cop who didn't get that blow job he wanted that morning, and is pissed at the world.
He CHARGED you with possession of over 30 grams. They can CHARGE you with anything remotely relevant, and let the judge decide if it sticks. Did he charge you with possession or cultivation? They will try to charge you with everything that those plants have the potential to produce. But all you can really be CONVICTED of is possession of the amount you had at the time. They will weigh it wet, probably weigh the dirt and container too.
Are they saying you were gonna sell? Sounds like Canada is becoming like the US, where something that you COULD do is illegal.
I know a guy who was charged with possession of burglary tools. He got pulled over in an area that was less than savory, and had the bad luck to have a pry bar (Tire Iron) and some other tools in the open bed of his truck. Cop said he could be using them to break into homes. Case was dismissed, but he still spent time in jail, paid bond, and now has a record of arrest.

Bottom line... Get a lawyer!!! You'll be fine. They will charge you with everything under the sun hoping that it will scare you into admitting guilt on the lesser of the charges, and 99% of the time...It works!!!

Scare tactics, the best police get the accused to incriminate themselves. They do this by coercion and using fear as a weapon. Get a lawyer, unless you have been in trouble before its going to be a slap on the wrist. Did you give consent to the cop to search the vehicle? Its very likely a decent lawyer can get you off scott free. I knew a good lawyer who got a guy guilty of selling 40 pounds off scott free. the guy was totally guilty too, but the cops did not do the procedures right. You will be fine, don't even worry about it, as long as you have the lawyer your Good To Go! If you show up without a lawyer, well you will be thrown to the wolves.

you need to make appointments with at least 3 different lawyers asap. go to each one and talk about your case, then decide which one you feel will be able to help you the most that you can afford(you get what you pay for!!!) and hire them. you will spend at least $500 but trust me its worth it.

bad idea... you need one that has connects and cares about billing you. not some loser lawyer who could care less about you in a stack of other cases

what about a free lawyer from court?? my buddy told me to just use one of themm
the free lawyer from court get his paycheck from the same people who pay the lawyer prosecuting you. they go to lunch together, drink together, go to each others kids birthday parties. they also get paid wether they win or lose and thier clientele wont suffer because theres always dumb, broke suckers getting caught breaking the law. how many wealthy people are in prison? how many poor broke bastards who went with the public defender?

now i ask you, do you want the free court lawyer or are you gonna pony up some cash?

Amen spend the money man. I got off ALOT of charges,... but it cost me. But on the other hand I spent no time in jail and if I'd used public bullshit lawyers, I'd still be in jail and that was like 5 years ago. And fyi your gonna have to tell your rents dude... like ya just do it. I am also in ontario you'll be fine. And good luck.
