My next grow I plan on setting up a simple pump, smallest one I can find have it at the bottom of the reservoir. It will run to a simple actuator set to come when the temp rises above 67 degrees. This will trigger the pump pushing the nutrient solution out the pump into a black tube that will run outside the tent to an ice chest filled with frozen bottles and a small layer of water. The hose will run into a tightly coiled copper tubing the frozen bottles can be placed onto the copper tubing thus slowly cooling the liquid running through the copper tubing and back into the reservoir. There is a DIY article on here with no posts but we should all get one of these! I made one similar on my first grow but need to get a few more going. Check the YouTube in the post. https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/380550-diy-chiller.html

In hydroponics we seek to emulate and improve the growing conditions for our beloved ladies... In nature ground temperature fluctuates at a very slow pace... therefore I would conclude that as long as the reservoir changed temperatures slowly you are fine... i.e. put in many small bags on a perpetual cycle (so put in one wait two hours put in another wait two hours put in another wait put in a nother wait.... take the first on out & put one in then wait, take the second one out and put one in... and so on) This would drive ME crazy though... why are your res temps so high?

The only things I found within the scientific community about root zone temperatures had to do with pathogenic microlife and parasites if its too high (80+) and no water uptake if its too low (freezing haha).

This is the only thing I could find that says temperature locks out nutrients... in this case Nitrogen. However the plant did not show any changes.. so thats good right.

Hey E.man your just a wealth of information!! Thank you!

Well over the past 3 days since i posted about my res temp problems, i have ducted an ac unit into my cab and have been able to get my res temps at a constant 24C i know this is higher than the recomended but the plants are growig rapidly WHILST slight curling inward is going on.

My PPM is stil 150 but will bump that up to 400 on Sunday with my res change...

Quick question - is it normal to have a SLIGHT discolouration of the roots?? off white at the base's with a slight red tinge, very very slight but white tips in the water... Also, im not sure why my temps are so high, the cab temp is 28C with the MH. Im scared of the HPS now haha. The are wrapped in flashing tape and dynamat, it should be damn insulated!!!

Thank you guys and good luck!

Oh and here are some outdated piccies, will take some when i get home, enjoy!

My Protectors, waiting for any theifs haha!

it was a hemi :(. I had suspected it was a hemi a month ago so I stopped giving it nutes and just overall stopped caring for it untill I knew for sure. Took a clipping upto the local hydrostore and sure enough I was right, returned home and lobbed it off.
Its all good tho, was just a random bag seed not one of the important plants :).

Update with this turny: I'll be putting one of my ak47 clones and my Chronic in this turny :). I'll put pictures on asap

I actually just went to the hydro store yesterday and bought a mh 600 bulb and am going to veg on that now. I was using my hps and it was going okay but now on a mh! :) I'm excited to see this grow big fast :)

I am taking it one step further... I may use a mini fridge and just run tubing through there into a tub of water that has the hose coiled in there

@ unispanman... its really dependant on genetics and a lil dependant on health... so either your plants are supposed to be stanky or they are really loving you right now or both

Hey Everybody, although I am new this is not my first post. Switched things up to hushmail....anyways, I am on my first Grow and wondering if I can get in on this. I have a 5 gallon rubbermaid with 6 holes for 3" pots, currently have 2 babies that are reaching for air and showing they want to live. (Nirvana BlackBerry)-Actually with this being my first grow I have questions...I have a 250W Digital and a few CFL's, I'm wondering when I put the play CFL's to bed and start running up my electric bill?!!?? Seriously though, this sounds like fun and I am not that far behind. Hope I am welcome to compete but if not I will follow just the same. Good luck everyone
