Good Og's?

Well i asked this question on a different forum and everyone said "Cali connection!!!!" after a quick laugh, i come to you RIU to ask for actual growers with actual results that have grown some super tasty OG.

Thanks in advance for your time,

Nice! thats what I'm here for. a lot of different people on here have shown me stuff or made mistakes before i could and it was amazingly handy. I wouldn't be where i was without the hive mind so I'm just trying too do my part!

I actually used to really wanna try CC's Deadhead or 818 headband, but after some research i have read more than a few negative things about CC and the stability of their strains. I might buy a couple regular beans and hope for dankness.

holistic nursery has boss hog for sale. its buy one get one too. boss hog is the only CC strain i can vouch for and its DANK. I've popped a 10 pack and only 6 popped. i have one that I've ran a few times and its amazing the other 5 are just seedlings at the moment but they are chugging along. id recommend getting some of those if you really wanna try CC. you will be amazed by how fast they grow.

check these bad devils out too while your at it. http://www.highlifeseedbank.co.uk/Seed-Brands/303-seeds/303-seeds-ambulance or anything by 303 really but the ambulance has that fuel funk your lookin for in the 818 and deadhead but its got high CBD along with the high THC. i got a pack of these and a pack of the nightstar on there way.

and you can't go wrong with anything off this whole page really https://www.cannabis-seeds-bank.co.uk/bodhi-seeds/cat_9.html

bodhi is the man. cheap great genetics!

I been smoking OG 18 daily for about a year now. It's a good Indica strain, yields great, smells strong (old school chronic smell) , but the buds aren't as pretty as some other OGs. Mine came out a bit dark and fluffy so it doesn't move fast. Light green small compact buds is what people in my area want.

Guys I've got a question, and it's a total newb one too. So please don't laugh too much.

What is an OG? Is it from a certain line of genetics, a designation given to certain strains...or something else?

I'm very new to this and just trying to familiarize myself.

Hope you guys don't mind the slight threadjack.

originally it was just an "Ocean Grown kush" wasn't it?

im not sure how they justify it now a days or what it really means any more

my guess would be tho that these "OG" lines of today are just descended from those old school cali genetics. well the true ones. others are just named that to get the $$$$E

Thanks. All I could find was Ocean Grown, but couldn't figure out what exactly that meant. So much terminology...:wall:

NP, I've heard the story a few times and its always a little different but its the same story in overview really. Cali boys wanting to claim the work they were doing with some awesome Kush strains basically. they obviously were doing something right if all these years later we still see OG in 50% of our strain titles lol

I don't have the full back story but I know OG means Ocean Grown and originates from west coast California. Today there are lots of strains with the OG name attached. As far as I know its just a marketing gimmick and you see this with other strains as well, like Kush, White Widow, White Rhino, Big Bud, Blue Dream just to name a few. The problem stems from the fact you can't trademark a cannabis strain. At least not until cannabis becomes federally legal.

In the late sixties & seventies growers around Arcata Bay upper part of Humboldt Bay (ck a map) California grew primarily indica cross strains organically along with their other home farmed veggies. Some organic farmers collected seaweed from the beaches and used it in their compost. The thought was "all life originates from the sea". Hence the term "Ocean Grown" to distinguish it from chemically fed produce...Cannabis was a sideline then for the hippie back to nature types (ask me how I know) a number of whom were Vietnam vets bringing back cannabis seeds...I was stationed in Viet Nam in the mountains of the North...I did not know it at the time but while there was smoking principally mountain type indicas so I brought back indica. A number of other folks I know took seeds from that region to the Matanuska Valley in Alaska.

Much later, the 2000s, in the San Fernando valley around LA, breeders were poly-hybridizing with sativas and referring to their product as "Original Gangsta" popularized in Hip Hop by the likes of "Snoop", "Ludacris" & "Big"...So this is my story and I am only sharing my own experience with what I came to know as "OG"...FWIW
