Done a few soil grows now and I think I'm getting the hang of it somewhat. I'd like to switch to hydro growing now and see the difference everyone is talking about !

Being that this will be my first hydro experiment I wanted to make or buy a pretty cheap setup. I found a good DWC setup on ebay and was wondering what your opinion on this system is - does it work good? Any potential problems with it etc?

Here it is:

Any ideas?

i say build it yourself .. but in all seriousness go for it .. very enjoyable way to grow

*edit* looking at it closer, 1 6inch air stone won't do . u want heaps of air so a better air pump to. air stone under each row of plants

awesome, thanks for that info bro.

I have that same exact setup with the exception I made it all for under 25 bucks and I ended up with better stuff (pump and stones). Almost everythin there is at your local walmart. Either duct tape the whole thing or paint it cuz light will get in and mess with ya....

the tub is 3.50 @ walmart and the dual airpump is 10$ airhose $2 also at walmart. I roll of chrome duct tape 2.69, and 2 water curtains (6-15) netpots 4.00 hydroton and rockwool cubes like 10 bucks, but you will have waayy too much of these...

All in all its 25-30 bucks and you built it so you know how to make more..

Another thought as well. As i had 6 plants in mine 1/2 thru veg they were really getting scrunched so I built a larger one with 6 5 inch pots. Only cost for the tub and netpots, around 10 dollars to upgrade it. After that those square tidy cat litter buckets work really well...

I don't understand why people bother buying these pre built systems similar to the one linked and the aerogarden. You can build one yourself that will be much better and save you money. I seriously suggest making one yourself, jjf1978, you'll be kicking yourself if you don't
