well im picking up a new hobby.

i made a 4 ft long home made sluece box, it is a cheapo for now and i will get a nicer one when i have the cash as for now what i have has been proven to work just fine. im not looking to get rich or any thing just a new hobby that could make me a few xtra bucks. i just used some cheap wood and ribbed rain pipe cut in half. im just going to be in my back yard using it and i might go up to the creek up the mountain.

I know this is not a gardening or farming hobby but i wanted to post it here as it still involves dirtand in a way is like farming but just for gold.
if any one wants me to post this any where else i will do so gladly.

ill post a pick of it soon and a pic later of it in action.

U goin to northern cali to pan? Iv actually paned for gold b4. Pretty fun actually unless its summer time n north cali and the mosquitoes eat u alive. Dont expect to make much all but last time i checked gold prices it was $1,756 per oz. Plus u got the advantage of it being 2011... Who else is gonna b out there doin what ur doin.... Not to many ppl so i think u actully have a pretty ok chance at walking away with something to show. Good luck man and let us know what happens!

im not looking to make money at all just a new hobby i guess that could give me 20 bucks a week or so if im lucky. I only payed 10 bucks for my setup so if i dont find any thing its ok, ill still keep at it. i know theri is gold in oregon and i am pretty sure the creek i am going to work has gold in it as it is a very old creek.

A guy that I know is digging for gold not far from here. He has a bunch of dirt that has gold in it that I will be learning how to work with and I will end up with some gold or money in my pocket for helping him. =)

I'd love to do this. Unfortunately, I don't live in the proper area for this. I watch Gold Rush Alaska ALL the time. Haven't missed an episode yet. One day when I have my compound in the mountains, I'll be doing this. Can't wait to see photos!

nice. mcpurple the prospector. i always thought it would be cool to do for a couple days on vaca.
so far it has been fun, i still havent ran dirt but its still fun, and the only reason i am actually doing this is i am getting bored with my one month lay off, its nice but boring. i need work.
i also am gonna start a small grow if i can find good clones, i need to be kept busy 24/7

i love that show, thats what gave me the idea to try, the second season is more like a soap opera though. i dont plant on going any bigger then my small 4 ft box, i might in the future get a small tumbler or something but for now this works, i dont want to be so big i need to buy or rent a claim

prospecting is fun but def hard work.. i have been a gold prospector for about 4 years now.. i got highbankers and sluice boxes and pans... man o man its fun.. to bad we cant fn dredge here in cali... fn indian tribe kyruks(sp).. dredging helps the fish it created pools for them to spawn in.... plus it takes out mercury...but hey when you got all that money and nothing to do with it.. you find something... i mean its not like the gill nets are killing all the salmon . nope not that or the dams not letting the fish back to their natural spawning grounds.. nope not the problem kinda like alcohol dui takes another locally yet the dea is going after weed like its killling millions like tobacco and alcohol. nope not those ITS THE WEED THATS THE PROBLEM.. its not the overfishing its the Dredging that is the problem... free us miners....

finding your own gold is fun until you get gold fever,,,, then your screwed., some of my gold.. i think there is almost 2 ounces of that yella gold

socal specific so we go out to the east fork in azusa.. nugget alley is a great spot or cattle canyon gravel bar.. if you go upstream more the gold gets bigger but you have to go past the bridge to nowhere into the narrows... but when i go up to norcal we like to mess around in auburn state rec area.. i know of a few good spots when the water level is low...but alaska is where i wanna go to prospect one day... i also do some drywashing as well ..got to luv that gold fever
