Going XXL and making fem seeds. The ".xxl" project

If these are going to pop soil, it should be in the next 2-3 days. I really don’t expect that to happen.

All plants are still in soil. Starting the dry.

I usually hang the plant up for a few weeks to dry, pop the seeds out, then let them sit another 3 weeks or so.

If nothing happens with these, ll try a few every week until something pops.

Then we will both know.

So nothing happened with the three seeds I put in soil. I dug them up to take a peek and they are all still nice solid seeds. I tossed em. Too early.

The four small seeded plants have been drying in their 4” pots. Today I cut them at the base and stuck them in paper bags to further dry. Love that sound of seeds hitting the bottom of a paper bag. Ya buddy.

Good use of the paper bag drying technique, I'm taking notes.

So I didn’t actually “toss” the three in the yogurt cups. I put them to the side and they dried up. One came alive. Must have been the live active cultures. Hehe. Pretty damn excited. Come on baby.....

WTF!

Ok here we go.

HLG has seed plucking fingers.

Not too shabby for a short winter project with a few mini fem plants.



AKR didn’t want to play nice. Lmao

Seed plucking is real hard on the eyes. But when you wake up in the morning with seeds in jars……it’s all worth it.

Now the fun begins.

BKR f4 is still out there growing. It’s at the end of life and is LOADED with bkrf4.xxl f1 seeds.

awesome tutorial man! thanks for sharing! I'll have to try this out with some of the strains I have. I already have a pile of $ into the seeds i bought. I'd like to make seeds from the strains i end up liking... and maybe try making some interesting crosses of my own.

Ya last time I bought seeds was 8 years ago or so. Did some trading here and there.

Gotta say it’s pretty gratifying working on your own crosses.

It is definitely a pain in the ass messing with pollen. Especially if you don’t have a separate cab or some where else isolated from your main grow area. Pollen floats and is tiny.

Go for it. It’s pretty easy stuff.

I plucked a few seeds randomly around the plant. They look good. I’ll cut this up tomorrow and hang it up.

@HighLowGrow I've got couple question please. 1. If I use silver on say a f1 strain will the seeds be considered f2. I've been thinking about starting to do this on my fave strains. 2. Can a sprayed plant with silver cross pollinated another female if left in tent with it. Thx

1. If you self a plant those would be s1 seeds. You would mist one bud site and use that pollen on the rest of the same plant.

If you mist plant “blue”, then use that pollen on another plant “blue”, those seeds would be f2. And if you did it again the seeds would be f3 and so on. (In a nutshell).

2. Yes. This is what I did. I sprayed one plant and put it with five others. I got five crosses. I also got s1 seeds from the plant that I misted.

If you want to just make a bunch of fem seeds, pick your fem plant, grow it. When it’s 7-10” tall start misting one branch. When pollen starts to drop, collect it and brush it onto the pistils of the other bud sites. Then just grow it out. Harvest your hundreds of seeds.

Making me want to start a new grow just to make my own seeds!

Can’t believe I’ve paid $10 a seed in the past. I punch myself in the face every once in a while thinking about it.

For a $28 bottle of this you could make enough pollen to create thousands of fem seeds of whatever strain you choose. Of course you have to buy the initial fem seeds.

I have 3 bottles of T-mist. Lol.. and you gotta start somewhere with the seeds.

I have more seeds to choose from right now than I know what to do with. I can hardly decide what to grow first.

About 3 days ago I decided to put the above 4 seeds (bkrf4.xxl) in some dirt.

Woke up to see this today. x2 The other two haven’t popped up yet. Ya buddy!!

And here is the bkrf1.xxl @ 20 days from seed. 2 gallon bag 600 hps 24/0.
