I believe there HAS to be SOME facts or truth in the Bible, its such a big book, it cant be 100% pure fiction. There has to be some real characters and some real history, whatever that might be.

It could be that the meaning was not about outward expressions. The burning bush represents a nervous system, and the hallucinations springing from that system. They would be pictures from the deep, so to speak. (Moses / Leviathan)

I'm not posting this in opposition to your post, just presenting another take on it.
