Ghetto growers: Anyone growing on a really tight budget, let's share advice.

I'm on a really tight budget. I still have to buy my weed, since I haven't started growing yet. I also don't have a job. I'm talking about keeping my budget under 50 dollars.

So far I'm using a cardboard box. On the inside, I glued white paper- I had to use the plain white sides of my handouts from school, since I ran out of white paper. I smashed an old lamp I found so I had just the cord and the socket. I then found an extension cord that had a socket built into it. I've only got 2 23 watt (1600 lumens each) CFLs. I do plan on getting more. I'm going to use some buckets in my shed as pots, got some Miracle Gro for the soil.

I found out today that my PS2 is broken. I took the fan out of it. I also took the fan out of my orginial Xbox (which was also broken). I used some chargers to make improvised plugs for the intake and outtake fan.

So yeah, it's pretty ghetto and improvised.

Anyone got any tips for ghetto growing? I can give people tips too if they need any.

I don't live in a warm enough climate. It's usually about 50 degrees in the daytime now, but it gets in the 30s and 40s at night.

And I don't get enough sun.

That sucks.....CFL's and the cheapest dirt you can find. Let your water sit out for 24+ hours to let the chlorine evaporate before you water them. Do your best to keep the heat down and fresh air circulation.

do a deep water culture with 8.95 42w 3000k cfl's from wal mart. there is also a 65w 2700k at lowes for 17.99.

Hempy is cheap.

I use two liters lol

All you need to start is some perlite / vermiculte and nutes. I could build or buy a full aeroponic system, but i like the simplicity of the hand watered passive hydro hempy.

i sectioned off part of my closet as a grow space, with a white curtain

and i'm using two 26w cfls (6500k) and a fan

with some perlite and MG organic

going to be using this setup until i can build me a good grow box

buy the right shit they first time because weed is like worth more than gold dude people who bitch about price are retarded because the profit ratio is huge if you do it right

Since you have no job and said "school" i suspect your young................dont grow your parents will smell it during flowering.....easily

use the insides of chip bags instead or mylar.. hahah

i cut the top of 2 liter soda bottles and paint them white.get a bag of perlite from
walmart $7 it will fill about 5 of them drill a pencil sized hole about an inch and a half from the bottom and put your plants in.home depot has splitters for under $3 and 4 pack of 6500k 100w cfl's are about $8.

u have to have ur shit somewhat together to grow weed! its not that much for fox farm the light will run ya a few hundred and theres always more shit to buy but the first harvest will more then pay it so dont bitch. youll bitch when you buy inferior shit waste your time and grow no weed

this is a $3 cfl reflector...go to the gas station and get a big can of beer.now drink it and wash the can out,a few cuts and your done.

i didn't use it in a grow, but tried to see how it would work
spray painted aluminum foil with flat white paint
used the $1 spray paint from walmart
worked very nicely, it bonds very well, still have the foil after a year and the paint is bonded just like the day after i painted it

thats funny cause i have grown plenty of weed and haven't spent hundreds on all the hipe bullshit

so with the 2 liter bottles, can you explain that. Are you just growing in perlite as a medium? and also with that you mentioned a pencil sized hole near the bottom of the bottle im assuming it's for water drainage? it made it seem like you put the plant in through that hole so I was just trying to get that cleared up. The can reflector is a good idea to I thought that was funny but it really is practical.

As for nutes you can go ghetto/natural with urine. 1 part urine to 10 parts water. It is sterile cause your body cleaned it, and it contain a load of left over nutes your body did not use. May sound gross, but it works, and well too.

If you have a closet...use that. Dirt is cheap...like $5 is enough to fill a 2.5 or a 3 gallon pot with extra dirt left over. Do not buy pre-fertlized dirt. Do not buy dirt that says anything like "Will feed your plants for 6 months!" The pot itself will be like $4 at a dollar store.
So we have spent about $9 so far. Get a two pack of cool white (blueish color) cfls. They'll say 100 watts on the box but really they are 23 watts actual. That will cost you about $10 on average. READ UP ON CFLS IN THE CFL SUB-FORUM ON THIS SITE. Walmart has good prices fyi. You will need a cheapo extension cord. $1. We are now up to $20. Buy a bag of blood meal for $9. (It'll last you for many, many grows...it's worth it) A bottle of unsulphured blackstrap molasses will be good to have too. About $3. We are now up to $32. Miracle grow fertilizer. You can buy the rose food version. You need to read up on what N-P-K mean with fertilizer. Just know that for the flowering stage you want the middle (P) to be the highest #. That will cost you about $7. So we are at $39. You will need more cfls this time in warm (orange) hues for the flowering stage. You will need atleast 6 of them. Same wattage as before but you want warm instead of cool color. READ CFL FORUM. In a 6 pack you can get a deal of about $15. So we ended up at roughly $54 dollars...might go as high as $60 with adapters for the bulbsd and whatnot. Then you need seeds. I really think that you should look at $100 as a better budget including seeds. (I'd recommend Nirvana as the seedbank)
