Leave them in a dark area that is has decent temperature: 70-80 degrees is ok. I put them in a paper towel (moist) then put them in plastic bag and tuck it in my dresser so its warm. Should see white taproots shoot out within 24-48 hours. Stick the white taproot down into the hole where you are planting and water from the side/bottom so the tap root grows downwards searching for water and doesnt shoot upwards towards the light and die! lol

well, the above poster pretty much nailed it.. no light till you put them into your medium of choice, nice warm area of about 80 degrees or so, and you should be good.. a nice place to put them would be say ontop of a cable box or a tv that stays nice and warm..

yeah... that would be good to do.. and make sure not to feed them any other nutes for atleast three or four weeks or you will kill them with kindness..

i never opt for the paper towel method because, sometimes it can dry out & then u have to re-wet, & sometimes they can get moldy. I either soak seeds in a shot glass for 12 hrs. & then plant directly in soil OR I put the shot glass in my veg/flower room for a day or so until they show roots & then plant. That is a fallacy that I have found about it having to be dark. Just 2 days ago, I sprouted tails on my seeds, in my flower room, fully lit 12 hrs. & plenty warm; I just put them off to the side.

I didn't say the seeds needed darkness to sprout, its more of habit to NOT have light shining on water, or in this case the humid moisture bag. I don't want a soggy bag of mold.

Ive had a lot of success planting directly in rapid rooters straight from seed without soaking in water for 24 hours. I've only had to water once and there was a taproot showing the 2nd day.
What I have is a humidity dome with rapid rooters and a special mold that holds them. I put them on a heating mat set to low in a dark cupboard. I planted 28 seeds this way and 27 have germinated. Just water lightly with water(doesnt have to ph'ed, r/o, or distilled, any kind) once, and then check once a day til the seed breaks the "soil" line/top of the RR.

i do the same thing with the rapid rooters... except i run higher temps (79-84 degrees) and misted the dome well to provide good humid air.. and i had sprouts in around 36 hours.

ALSO. i used distilled water with minute amounts of nutes and some superthrive. worked like a charm. i compared rapid rooter vs paper towel w/ a plastic bag vs 24 hr soak in shot glass (in lukewarm distilled water with a drop or two per gallon of superthrive).. and the rapid rooters smoked the competition.

all were in my grow room at the same temp.. the glass of water was covered with another glass, and the plastic bag and paper towel was right beside it. And they were germ'd/sowed at the same time.

tap root showed.. second on paper towel.. and third on glass of water.

all were different strains.. so that may have been an issue?

just remember though when germinating... MOIST not WET

i just put wate in a shot glass with a couple seeds, then but it in a cupboard with a mug upside down over the shot glass to keep all light out. takes about a day or 2 to pop a root. imo it works better then paper towel
