Gavita Pro 270e - Supplemental Lighting?

I've been on a role with embarrassing questions this week, so one more shouldn't hurt.

From what I can see, this plasma light is supposed to be used in conjunction with a HID, right? Unless I'm mistaken, it covers the spectrums that the HID cannot. It appears that there is a HPS supplemental version and a Full Spectrum version of this light.

So here is my question: Would running this light in conjunction with a LED have any positive benefit? Or would it just make me look like a tool?

the only think making you look like a tool is not posting the spectrum you want us to look at

The light I currently have is: https://www.johnsongrowlights.com/products/cx-16.

This plasma happened to grab my attention just because of the price drop. Here are links to the 2 models:

Full Spectrum for Growth: http://growershouse.com/gavita-pro-270-e-series-light-emitting-plasma-41-02-lep-full-spectrum-grow-version
Vegetative/HPS Supplemental: http://growershouse.com/gavita-pro-270-e-series-light-emitting-plasma-41-01-lep-vegetative-hps-supplemental

Pardon my ignorance. Although I am learning as I go, I'm sure I do come across as a bit behind from time to time.

Thank you. I've learned it's better to just ask and risk looking the fool as opposed to not asking and becoming one.

Not too long ago I may or may not have bought a blurple LED. And my wife may or may not always joke that I need to strap it to the bottom of my Camry and learn to drift. So once again, thank you for your help.

Man that is a LOT of $$$ for 270 watts.

Honestly these look very similar. The 41.01 is the supplemental and the 41.02 is full grow spectrum.
I'd honestly use the supplemental for my full cycle if I had to choose!

One beautiful thing about these is the amount of UV-A AND B that you get.

Just to clarify, are you saying that if you had this light you would use it in addition to your main light for the full cycle, or use it in its place?

The supplemental spectrum is designed to compliment HPS. I believe the Johnsons use a 3K? Kinda HPS'ish?
Either way, use in conjunction with the led to bring out all the bomb you've been missing :hump:

Me thinks you'd be better off with 1 of these instead. The plasma is an ok light but you'll add extra heat to achieve what this little jewel can add in for a lot less heat and cheaper.

has anyone tested one of these with a uv meter yet?............I'm always wary of htg's craptacular gear, horti's t5 uv "enhanced" bulb seems like a better buy. could be wrong.........or stick with repti t5, was tested by kitehigh as the only fluoro worth buying for uv.

MH plasma is dead to me OP, not worth spending a dime on them anymore

good luck

How many do you think I should get? In terms of mounting, would I want to use these as side lighting or hang them from up top? I'm assuming these would be most beneficial during flowering. What kind of time schedule should I put these on? Thanks again for the always helpful direction.

Just 1 and hours on I'll check and reply when I find out. The way I've seen them used is mounted on the wall horizontally above the canopy beside the main light.
