Gave my plant the chop and finished the trimming with a spin trimmer.

what do you mean by stacking the bags you lost me there.

Something like this. These bags are empty so they aren't staying open well but what you have are a bunch of triangles that you can sorta scrunch together.

So I decided to calibrate my hygrometers and none of them are looking completely accurate. I'm using a Humidipak Calibration Kit that set's the humidity to exactly 75.5%. So far I've got a low of 74% and a high of 84%. I'm going to leave them inside another day and then manually calibrate them. Well the black one I can calibrate digitally. The others I'll just label with something like +7 so I know that it's reading high. I've got another Humidipak and I think I'll crack it open tomorrow. I'll take three of hygrometers and move them to the new kit to verify I'm getting the same readings.

For now I'm keeping the HBL sealed up but the LSD was damp when I opened it up so back into the paper bag after I took this shot.

Remember when I said the HBL bud was sticky? This is what happened when I rotated the jar. All the bud stuck to the top as a single block.

sooo...the taste?
Haven't given it a smoke run yet. Maybe this weekend. Now that I've got my HygroMeters calibrated I'm back to slowing getting the humidity level down.

Here's a shot of the HBL

As you can see from the +5 sticker I stuck on the Hygrometer, this one reads a little high. That would put the true humidity level at 60% which I'm good with. I'll keep monitoring it to make sure it doesn't creep higher but it looks like I should be in "brief burp every few days" mode for a few weeks with the HBL.

The LSD was back in a paper bag last night and I just put it back in it's jar so I don't have a good number for it yet.

Just got my new mini-hygrometers today, finally. Was using a larger one in 32 oz jars and it got tight.

No real need for a spin trimmer unless you are harvesting larger amounts, or you are lazy. Nothing wrong with either. I can fully trim a half pound with a fiskars in under 3 hours.

Have you tried humidipaks yet? I got a thread on that going but I have yet to do long-term cures as the shit goes so quick. Will update soon.

I'm old and lazy. :)

I used the humidipaks for calibration. That photo with 5 hygrometers is of them in the humidipak.

Finally got the LSD down to 60% RH

Now I'm going to let this cure for another 4 weeks or so, burping it about twice a week. Then it will be time to vacuum seal.

Ok everyone, it's the big finish.

HBL has been curing for a month and is at 59% RH

LSD has been curing for a month and is at 61% RH

HBL loaded up into jars

LSD loaded up into jars

Shot of my vacuum seal setup

Jars vacuum sealed and labeled with Strain, Harvest Date and Package Date

And now for my favorite part, the smoke test.

My test equipment. Inline bong loaded with crushed ice, 8 arm ash catcher and a ice pinch bowl.

Now full of smoke. bongsmilie

Smoke was smooth with a nice kick.

damn.man.thats pretty nice bong there, and bud of course
Thanks STB. It's a Black Leaf Nautilus Layback. $75 from GrassCity and worth every penny. I like it so much that I bought two of them.

Because the bowl joint is vertical, I had to get an angle connector to fit the bong and my ash catcher together.

Cleaning could be a pain because of the inline perc but I'm lazy. I have a 5 gallon bucket that has 1 gallon of Simple Green and 3 gallons of water in it. After I've used a bong for about a week I drop it in the bucket to soak. After a week when I'm ready for a clean bong, I just rinse the one that has been smoking out and it comes out super clean as you can see.

One thing that I don't show in the picture is that I normally have a 1 lb leg weight that I use for diving wrapped around the base to give it a little more stability. With the ash catcher on, it's a little top heavy.

I also use a spin pro trimmer. saves TONS of time....actually saves me 12 hrs of trimming vs my 2 x 12hr days of hand trimming I used to do. 12 6.5' plants take a while to trim up by hand. lol

I prefer the wire blades, stacked 2x offset of each other. 15 turns and im ready to put in new buds to trim.
