Only postulating. I seem to remember mentions of too much light (more than 1500umol) having a negative effect on potency.

I could be wrong.
that's something that can be fixed simply by raising the fixture you'd still have more then adequate light and spread and coverage with all those fixtures in his tents people have been using high intensity light for years it's just something that led people got to come to terms with a 1000w HID can and will produce 2lbs of quality smoke without ideal distribution i just don't understand why i haven't seen more from the cob side don't get me wrong i love my home made "Vero eyesore" lights and I'm getting similar results with my HID grows but i pack more in my tent now because i have less stretch but i still feel like I'm hitting the barrier of not achieving more and I'm just concerned as to why way higher grade lights aren't blowing me out of the water

Well the resident experts on this forum seem to think that 700-1k umol is the sweetspot for quality and quantity. Beta test team on icmag thinks the point of diminishing returns is right around 1500-1800 umol.

What quantitative tests ive ran have ran have gotten contaminated, invalidating the results. However anecdotally they seem to support their line of thinking.

that still never answered my question, you expect realstyle gpw to go down then, that is what i can imply from your response sure i think this community has found a sweet spot but again 1000w hps in the man to beat they've been growing dank with those lights for years and years hitting high thc points and high yields how can you explain a lower efficient light producing similar product with a worse spread

I do however believe led will make a more potent bud given same conditions but I'd still like to see the other numbers getting a bump from a higher quality light

Im not trying to imply that increasing the power displacement would reduce the crop to hay. Only that he may experience a slight oil percentage drop. Too much light can negatively effect the oil content im thinking.

If you're wanting a scientific explinations I can't offer one. Im only postulating.Notice the question mark at the end. If I had time I'd dig a bit more but 18 hour days are kicking my ass lol

i know its not the ufo but do you notice anything? Like it's the same crappy chinese light...
I am sorry I have to explain. Mars hydro is made in our factory but the Galaxyhydro is not ours. we made this 100x3w light, draw power is 170~180watt light since 2009 .please see pictures, we tested the draw power for your guys. we do not sell this item anymore because there is a lot copy one.

One tip: We are a led grow light manufacture and we will not do business with Chinese, because we do not want them to copy our lights very fast. If you found there is a Chinese company are selling the same light, it is not ours for sure.

To be fair to Sara, the GalaxyHydro does have a few differences.
For one it has an one/off switch and you can dim it.

i was under the impression that they make those generic lights in a factory similar to laptops then each company gets to slap a special logo on and thats business

ONE MORE THING that galaxy hydro light is on like 15 diff websites in the TOP 10 grow lights of 2015 so idk what anyone here is talking about saying that the galaxy hydro is crap...Because I know first hand that it is not, amd I mean can you read what the mars hydro guy wrote? He wrote like he didn't speak English.....................................................................

So that galaxy ufo wouldn't be worth much in a 1x2x3 cab? Just something for the off season
Yes it would be more than fine if ur talking about the galaxy hydro pictured above the 300W they have 2 ones dimmable and ones not but the dummable one doesn't have an on/off switch but the other does and is bigger.

Thank you for your input finally somebody who has actually used them lol. You might have just saved somebody a lot of trouble thank you very much. What's the closest they can be to the canopy?

Hi, I own a GH 270w running inside a 1.5'x1.5'x4' cabinet... My first grow was a disaster, mostly because I'm a newbie and made several mistakes: Hot soil, bad air circulation, heat and finally light burn / bleach.

One Day I put the light too close and literally fried my northern lights auto...I think it was 5" or 6" from the canopy.

Now Im running my second grow and the little seedling just came out two days ago and seem to love the whole new environment I made for her... With a new 4" exhaust (100cfm) and the lights are Now 15" from the plant...

Ill let you know how she's doing...

Regardless of the " tech " - point being is that whatever lights you decide on , it comes down to experience. Forget the " light mongers " that moan and groan about what's better.

It's an ongoing argument that never ends .... First it's LED , then it's HID , then it's COB .... Yadda Yadda Yadda. They ALL GROW BUD. it comes down to what will work for you and your setup.
