This is a FDD reply from a few days back, and a great idea. It relates to pyrethrum-type insect foggers (I believe) and was written re:thrips, but would certainly work for mites. You have to spray 2-3 weeks after initial battle to ensure egg death.

remove all pets . . . what i do is this, ................. the foggers have a little plastic tab under the "trigger" that locks it down when you push it. then you are supposed to set it on the floor, upright, and run. i take a pair if small scissors or clippers and i clip off the locking tab. then when my lights are off i sneak into my room and turn off the fans. i spray the fogger for about 10 seconds then stop spraying. fanning over the top off the canopy. DO NOT get it on the leaves directly. it will shrivel them up. i do a light fogging, wait 10 mins then turn my fans back on. wait 3 days and repeat. i do this 2 to three times and it seems to get everything."

VERY GOOD MITE REMEDY !!
i ussally cut the tab and spray 1/2 bomb in there instead of just 10 sec. but thats me . I have alot of experience with bombs (Hot Shots)
Trust me bombs dont hurt like some on here think! (it may not be the healthiest enviroment but i never notice anything bad!)

Yes that would play a HUGE factor!
I dont like to touch or pinch anything during flower, because pretty much anything you do thats drastic (like LST or topping or even pinchin too many leaves at once) will slow down the flower process. Some things slow it down alot more then others and some strains wont slow down much at all (strong genetics i guess) but yes breaking branches will slow down the process bigtime! Same with the light it CANNOT be 12/12 then 11/13 then 14/10 or nothin crazy like that, it has to be on a working timer. so if you left the light on at night on accident then yes that could/will play a huge factor too! try to get all your "topping" , LST'ing and trimming done a week or more before going into flower, that will ensure things finish when they are SUPPOSED to
Now back to the mites..... just put about 10 seconds worth of bomb in the closet w/the door cracked or open and let sit for an hour then go back in there and open all windows and get some fans blowin everywhere and the smell will clear out really quick (depending on what kind of bomb u use) and as long as u leave the house after bombing and come back an hour or two later and air things out, you;ll be fine.... dont leave NO pets in there either. fuc im stoned an forgot what i was sayin.... but yea do that stuff! I'll watch this thread too:joint:

Especially fish . . . very toxic to them . . . one molecule, floater. R.I.P. Roger . . . you were a good fish.
Hey WB . . . with the foggers, do you need to cover your lights and other extraneous odds and ends in the room to be fumigated? How about vacuuming? Necessary?

I love my fish too! And no you do not have to cover anything in your room unless you have a res in there THEN OF COURSE you would take that out OR cover it with a wet towel and turn off pumps to res. And im sorry , yes if you grow on carpet (not smart) then yes you would need to vacuum , which should have been done anyways , plants love clean areas. Mr. Fishy i think you shoulda covered the parts i forgot.... you HAVE to know your fish.

I just went thru a spider mite episode in my grow room. Mature adults , about 2 dozen plants had webs and about 12 trillion eggs give or take a dozen or so. I trimmed as much off as I could to get rid of as many eggs as possible and lifted ea plant out of the ebb and flow table and sprayed the shit out of each one (top and underside) with Don't Bug Me from Hydrofarrm. Ran out of the qt bottle after 25 of 80 plants and then mixed up a weak solution of dog flea and tick dip to finish the rest. This brand of dog dip had the same ingrediants (pyrethium) in it as the Dont Bug Me except in higher concentrations and had the same inert ingredants also. I let them sit for a week then set off a pyrethium fogger to kill all the eggs that hatched. that was 3 weeks ago and all the plants survived and are show a lot of new growth. (they were in flower for 1 week before I saw the mites. Been checking them daily for new mite activity and looks like they are under control. here is a pic of those 80 plants 3 weeks after treatment and 4 weeks into flower All bud cause I lollypop them anyway so cutting the leaves off to controll eggs was gonna happen anyway. Bud plants are a lot more tolerant and forgiving than a lot of people think

@Dizzy, YOU MUST make a few rookie mistakes to learn anything......... its easy to read about it but its a lil different "hands on" just like every trade. STICK with it! you should NOT have let them stupid lil mites get to you.... but hey it happens. EVERY single mistake u make u will learn somthing new! you can only get better.
And i'll get back to you on your other questions later, people TRY to work me all up for nothin.
I like dirt better but i have never done hydro to know, but know folks who do and i will just stick to dirt.

I tried soil and didn't like it and went Hydro myself. I now have a 8 x 12 with E & F tables that support 160 plants. But you can make a kick ass Ebb and flow system for a closet with a cpl rubbermade totes and a few simple supplies. Just do a search in the DIY section and there is a ton of info to scan over. As for the SM's...my lesson learned is never go in grow area after going out doors. just a simple thing like checking the mail and going back inside can bring in mites or keeping windows open for ventelation can bring in mites with air circulation. I was told by someone on this board that once youget mites you never get rid of them, you just bring them under control....Good luck on your next grow around and don't get dicsouraged:mrgreen:

Personally, with you being so far into flower, there's a lot that I wouldn't try because of toxicity on the buds (no pest strips) or because of the risk of causing mold. About the only thing I'd use toward the end is the iso alcohol 50/50. It will evaporate quickly. It won't totally get rid of them (it doesn't kill eggs), but it will keep them under control.

Edit: Just read that you already cut them down. Oh well, my $.02 might be good for future reference or someone else reading this.

If possible, it's usually a great idea to take the infested plant outside and spray the crap outta it with water before starting mite eradication. You'd be surprised how many mites, and their crap, etc. can be removed this way. Gives ya a fighting chance w/major infestations.
