sorry about the constant thread jacking, there's just not a lot going on in my garden right now because we're expanding garden beds and my man says i might as well not do any tilling by hand 'cuz he's gonna get a guy with a *machine* in there... soon. <- i hope.
so for now i'm still the mother of a bunch of seed trays and 4" cups.

Cool. I might see if I can buy some lemon balm seeds. I can't wait till when I have my indoor garden completly setup. It would be pretty cool to have a little indoor garden bed but I'd have to find a way to make it water tight.

i love "lemon" herbs. and lemon balm is perfect for you because it's mint family too. if you can't find "lemon balm" it's also sometimes called "melissa" (latin name: melissa officinalis)

i was digging in my container garden yesterday and even though my original LB plant has shat the bed, a lot of the pots around it have little LB seedlings coming up around the rims and such (so it reseeds itself! bonus!) so i'm gonna try and save a few.

for your indoor garden bed you could always use wood to construct it and give it a wood bottom and then staple in some panda black film to stop water from leaking through kinda like growing in a bag.

Yea that or I might use velcro to hold the plastic down but use those window flower things in it or use the regular 1 size up from a 4 inch pot but see if I can find a square one for them and maybe rig up a drainage way but have soil filled up the whole thing for looks

Part update. Hey all, I was looking at my garden today and I saw that my strawberry plant has started to show a flower or 2 so its starting to get into producing fruit so I am very excited for this. I have started to germinate one of my Sugar baby watermelon seeds 3 days ago. I did some looking around and I found out that 1of the baby sugar watermelon can get up to 9 to 10 lbs.

I am growing strawberries too and a few have formed. For some reason, they never do well here but I keep trying anyways!

Yea I've been having problems with 2 of the potted sets but I haven't feed them for 3 or 4 waterings now. I might give them a shot of B-1 Thrive

most strawberry plants wont produce that great untill the next year. mine produced like shit the last 2 years and this year they are just booming. i only fertilize once at the beginning of spring. they are starting to get a lil yellow below though with all the berries that are starting. maybe i will give it some food soon as well

They are good and all but I needed some thing that I could hang there since I don't have much of any thing that I can hang the lights from and besides the T5 bulbs is a good grab. Also the 2 LED lights won't cover all that area for that price because the LED lights cost almost $12 them self and won't cover the whole length 100%. I will start using LEDs more once I got the whole area covered but want to lower the wattage draw.

Hey all. Got a little bit of an update. 2 of the mint clones out of all of them that I took had problems with not wilting after alot of attempts with getting it use to the regular air so I decided to pull the plug on them since I took 3 to 4 of each and losing 1 Mint Chocolate and 1Mint - Candy isn't going to really effect me. While I have been groing my own food I have been playing Harvest Moon so I am doing double growing of food. Since my friends can't grow their own fruits and vegetables I have been thinking about growing some for them but charge them a small fee to cover the cost that it takes to grow them my self. If they do want to go that way the money will go towards a solar system setup and this will not only cut the power bill from growing it indoors but it will be a huge advantage since over the past 5 years power shortages have been happening more and more and there has been times where there was no power for 24 hours and I don't want to lose a garden from that if I am growing them in hydro.

I know some of you don't agree with selling the fruits and vegetables but

1 - I want to brake even faster.
2 - It cost me money to feed them and to get them to grow faster via 24/0 light and hydro when I get to that point.
3 - I could use it my self but I wouldn't have enough space to store it and I would sell it to them pretty much below store cost.

For those that don't know how much a basic solar system can cost here's some numbers.

100w Solar Panel = $200 to $400
1 solar battery (Sealed) - $600 to $800
Inverter = $200 to $300
Breaker Box = $75 to $100
Breaker rails = $20 to $40 each
Charge Control = $500 to $700
Wires = Depends on the gage

hey man sounds good to me to charge a lil bit of money for the expenses. and i have been wanting a solar system as well, but they are spendy in the start up.

if you really want good cheap energy look into duck weed domes. if you cant find any ting on them let me know and ill point you in the right direction, its supposed to be better and more efficaint then solar, nuclear, wind mill, and hydro energy.

theri was an add i saw awhile back that i cant seem to find now that was about this guy who builds sheds for medical growers to use, it had a solar panel on the roof, intake and outtake, and a/c for cool air and a heater for winter months. every thing in this shed is ran off the solar panel, but in the winter you still have to use some electricity that is being paid for as their is not alot of sun light in winter

That sounds really cool. I can't seem to find much besides what its about but now how it can produce power and such.

I might order a 36 DIY solar cell pack. I really want to find out if its possible to use a single solar cell to charge a battery to use a soldering iron to solder it and link more together slowly once there's enough power produced. Yes it sounds stupid but I am very curious if its possible to do the whole solar power project off grid with no help from the grid of any sorts. I have done some research but still need to find out more if its real that you apparently can wire up 12v batteries a cretin way that keeps it a 12v system but increases the wattage/amps (running time of an item). Once I get the basic setup that is needed I'll probably go about buying another battery to increase the stored power and such and go from there.

Well I did some research and I found out how the solar cells are wired together so it can be possible to do what I am thinking of doing but also I found out how to wire batteries to make 12v batteries into a 24v system but the stored amps say the same but how to wire the 12v batteries to keep them a 12v system but increase the max amps stored.

i was gonna make a small solar powered intake and outtake fan for my GH i was gonna use those solar powered path lights and take the grid off and attach to a battery pack to run my fans but i just never did it.

i have some links to share with you if thats cool, but i got to go to work right now so will do later if its cool

Cool. If I can find it I might buy some of those plug in coolers that have a computer's CPU heat sink and one of those metal plants that 1 side gets really cold and the other side gets hot and get a bigger heat sink and fan and use that mini cooling metal plants and see how well one of those does for cooling if it sucks then I'll just buy a dermal tool and some diamond plate sheet of metal and build a little fridge to keep a glass of water or w/e cold in the summer and it would probably be very useful to because you have ice in your cup and it should last longer. =) Yes you can post a link to what you want to show unless you want to send a pm to me so I can look at it and if I like it I can tell you to post it if you want.

Cool. I was talking to a friend and he was running a 250w HPS and he was thinking about buying batteries, car alternators, small electric motor that runs off the batteries but turns the alternators to charge them then get a inverter to power his lights.

I am back with a part update. I have awsome news kinda. I got enough money on payday and today I spent almost $800 today getting tools that I needed. 1 of them was the cordless circular saw that I wanted but it came with other tools to. 1 6.5 inch 40 tooth for finishing and plywood, safety glasses, measuring tape.
