Frostick Zero's Garden

Hi all. For the past 3 years I have been interested in getting into greener ways of living. I recently changed all my 60w old incandescent bulbs to 45w Compact Florescent bulbs and I have changed 1 of the lights to a 15w CFL. Last year I've been wondering how I can help do my share in going greener. I do drink alot of tea and using alot of herbs and such and that made me think why not grow some of the herbs and such that I use. Now I have decided to start an indoor garden so that I can grow herbs and such all year around and not have to rely on the weather to do the job and possibly lose things.

This layout isn't gonna be the one I will be using as a permanent thing so you guys and gals will have the pleasure in watching it happening and I might give a crack at it growing with LED lights.

Please enjoy my indoor garden. :)

Ok cool, I didn't even know there was such variety of mint, I have only ever seen one kind, and it grows like crazy, but smells divine. Oh and I love strawberries, I also have a strawberry going, cant wait to get some fruit from it.

awesome! i had chocolate and apple mint last year too, and spearmint, they're fully coming back already. i think the apple mint might have choked the living shit out of my lemon balm, though (they're side-by-side), it's coming up all over last year's stalks and the LB isn't doing *anything...:(

Awwe that sucks. I'm gonna be doing a bit of cloning when they are 2 to 3 weeks older to give them growth. I might give them a little taste of some B-1 Thrive.

Thanks McPurple. Yea its alot but I love my mint tea and it will be cheaper this way and get different kinds. They sort of have a hint of a apple smell. These ones are starting to smell a little more today but yesterday when I got them they didn't smell like anything since they weren't getting alot of sun because its been cooler out at night and not a tone of sun lately.

The candy does have a sweeter smell to it. The chocolate well I read what they say it smells like and I have to agree that it does smell like those Girl Gide Peppermint patties. The Orange is slowly starting to have a citrus smell to it.

nice!

i'd have to say, though, of all the "fruity" mints i've ever grown, the one that smelled the most like what it was called was "pineapple mint"

(last year's pineapple sage is coming back right now.... crazy voracious thing)

Thank you. :) I want to get my hands on the Pineapple mint strain. I swear any plants that are coming back from winter come back with faster growth. I have lylock trees already starting to flower and its still abit cold out. I would love to learn how to breed a new strain of mint.

Day 2 - Update 2

Hey all ok I checked my mint and it is time for me to water them. I decided to give them a light feeding. 3/10th of 1ml of B-1 Thrive to 1L of water.

Thank you. Yes it is. The sweet thing about mint is that you can grow it pretty much like weed. The light feeding to my mint that I did last night before I went to bed they seemed to have loved it. My strawberry plants aren't looking so happy but that might be because I planted them. I might have to take some clones of each mint plant and put them into a DWC system and see how well they do. I think they would thrive alot more since they seem to love the B-1 Thrive. I stoped feeding all my house plants 20-20-20 and changed over to B-1 Thrive because they look like they love it more. I have a plant that didn't grow for almost 2 to 3 years much and it started to grow more faster.

Little mint harvest from one of my Mint - Orange mint shrub. :P

2.JPG1.JPG

Mind you that I only harvested 6 sets of leafs on 1 out of 7 straight growths. I could have done all 7 but I didn't want to harvest to much for the first round. My plant pots is feeling little light and soil is feeling a little dry so it might be close to time to do a light B-1 Thrive feeding again.

so to harvest mint you just take off some leafs at any time in growth or is their a period of time it should be done?
