An interesting article with some valid points.
More than a few valid points, a ton of them.
I was born in the USA, but spent a good portion of my youth in Ireland which gave me an opportunity to compare societies.
There is/was no comparison.
The Republic of Ireland was founded in 1921, after throwing off the shackles of British tyranny, guaranteeing all it's citizens the right to vote/free & equal education & Healthcare with no limitations.
In contrast it took until 1964 with the Civil Rights Act for a Black man/woman in America to be able to drink from the same water fountain/sit at the lunch counter or go to the same school as a White person.
I had the good fortune in the 70's/80's to travel around Europe, visiting Belgium/France/Germany & you know what that was like?
They fucking hated me as soon as they knew I was an American, so I had no recourse but to lie for safeties sake, and had to disclaim that I actually was an American citizen, and say nope, I'm Irish. That was fucking sad.
This country is full of delusional/ignorant/self-centered/racist/deadly fools & after 4 years of Trump, our failures as a society are on full display for all the World too observe.
We think we are exceptional, the shining light on the hill?
We're a fucking cruel joke & the World is laughing at us right now.
