I really want to make a plant of all buds if you will. I have not done any grafting before but if i want to produce a veriety of smoke and obey local plant limits i will have to.
Any advice on selecting genetics for the host? Is it better if the host is clone or seed?
Can more then one grafts take at a time or should i give each a few weeks to heal independently?
Do i have to treat each new branch as its own plant if i want it to reveg?
Is all weed acceptable to hosting all other weed or do i have to be very selective with what grafts go on which host?
Anything you thinkbi should know to take on this project is welcome

Why not just scrog a plant ? Or a run of SOG style cola plants ? This way you can have multiple tops to harvest

Saves the potential of wasted time if a mass graft experiment fails. You can always run a “ tester “ plant to see if any grafting techniques would take first.

I like where your head's at, but @Budzbuddha is right. Time spent would be a waste and you could just as easily SCROG two or three plants for INSANE yields and that should still be within your limits, which I'm guessing is four or six (mine is six)?

Not to shoot down your experiment- just run a tester size plant on the side.

You could have a plant and do some sort of graft notching- then monitor its progress .

My host plants plants will be started inside early november, put in the ground as early as i know i can keep their enviorment above 55f with suplemental lighting i wont turn off til july. So there will be time to practice
Think i will find 2 good landrace kushes and 2 hazes. Start with tring those two to each other then bring a new doner to try on each every 4-6 weeks. First year i want to hunt colors so i can get a cool visual display during bloom. If i can make them reveg in the fall and lern to help them survive the winter ill be happy adding just 1 or 2 new cuts each season.
Have you used the method showen? Is it more effective to go into a topped stalk then into a cut branch?

Its 4, and this is a learning/experiment/legacey project. The goal is veriety not yeild
Friend lets me grow his plants for fun and my home grow produces enough to provide if it fails. If it gose right ill hang my hat on

I was litterally thinking of this today. Because the plant count of 4 in Canada. How can I test a lot of genetics as fast as possible.

I think a good root stock could handle more than 1 grafting at once. But it will take lots of practice.

How i manage my home grow on a plant count is i start 1 plant per month and have a back up germination site for seed №5 if needed each plant is given its own M² tent and 300-500w light. If my sprout to flip time is under 9 weeks i stay mostly on track.
I dont think this process will be fast considering the amount of recovery time i need to have before starting my bloom cycle. If i plant seeds 11/1 i probably wont attempt my first graft until 1/15 or later.

I don't really see anyone breaking down doors in a legal state for having a couple of extra plants. As longs as its not a full fledged growing operation.

You are correct sir. But im not gonna put my buddys ass on the line considering they will be outside in a subdivison. With a very active church nearby.
I got strikes, kids, and a worry wort of a wife so legal grows at home are also a must(most of the time)

The host plants will be walked so that i can graft on the upward growing branchs only after i know its corosponding downward has sucessfully rooted. I think this is the path of highest success rate since each graft will be highly adjacent to a root system and has a direct unshade path to light.

And all the while you get to say ‘it’s only one plant!!’
Ok this is a great plan, it will take a long time, but technically it is one plant. You will crack other beans to grow them a bit and then graft on? And then kill the other mother? Once the graft takes. ?

Sprout a bean for the sake of 1 branch? Fuck no! Year 1 I will treat all 4 plants as is they are the host and focus on getting them to take to each other keep the one that has the best fall reveg and cull the others.
After year 1 I will plan my home grow to have appropriate donors in veg during the spring
And use the other 3 counts on site as new annual plants and take a donationof each. I should be able to provide 4 donations a year if I have my shit together(I do not generally speaking)

What's the penalty for over limit? here in NY its only a fine ($150 max)

I know 5 is a misdemeanor and 10 is felony. It dose not really matter what the fine or time is, anything more then "here are my plants for you to count sir" is more headache from the judiciary then I need
