Actually, FFOF is notorious for being a hot supersoil. People burn pretty often, particularly planting seedlings in it undiluted, I believe. Mixed with Happy Frog should make it a bit easier, though. I prefer soilless organic mediums to actual soil, personally.

I’m enjoying the debate. Personally, I like FFOF and HF. Just wondering what other thought and how I can make it better and or adjust for any shortcomings. IE: gnats...:mrgreen:

It is a Grow medium not a supersoil. And it is fox farms premium product designed for container gardening.

I just put up pics of perfectly healthy seedlings in it from sprout and have for a couple years now.

I used Happy Frog soil and got white flies which I can only trace back to the Happy Frog soil. It wasn't a big deal because white flies are harmless and mostly like buzzing around the lights. Hanging a couple of sticky ribbons had them all sticking to it within 24 hours.

that's a very common experience with ocean forest products from what i have heard

Experienced Growers know most of the crap said here is myth. And anyone not taking forum advice blind would have likely read a Grow or gardening book and they all warn of soil storage.

Thank you for keeping this thread informative.

Weather the soil has gnats or not, it would be beneficial for everyone if we talk about remedies for fungus gnats pertaining to someone using FFOF/FFHF.

Storage seems like a start.

I myself have started companion planting to help help rid my soil of gnats wether they are present or not.

Growing out doors I’m going to assume there’s a potential regardless if gnats were present in the soil to begin with.

If you notice the gnat attractors comments the common theme is that the gnats came 3 weeks later not right away.

This fact alone precludes the bugs coming from the soil. The Grow attracted them.
