if they are drowining in standing water you need to get them out of it or drain the water away... they will be ok for a while.. but they will quickly use the oxygen in the water and die if you dont do 1 of those 2 things...

leave them under light if they are in veg.. it will help them burn through some of the water...

if you dropped ones its ok as long as you didnt break the main stem in half horizontally...

SimpsonSampson - i've got some more Q's for you... i'm going to purchase a 4' 8 bulb T5 high output flourescent. (40,000 lumens). in the description of the item it says that it's low heat, but does not give a minimum distance it should be from the tops of plants. i've used cfls at 2-3" from plant, but this fixture is much stronger and gives off a bit more heat than a couple cfls. what do you think a good distance from the top of the canopy is ? also... i've purchased these square shaped potting containers from my local hydro store. they're the 3 gal containers. i want to flower plants at about 18" for an overall height of about 27-36" . do you think the plants would become rootbound being that large overall in only 3 gal containers? thank you. ~GREEN~

Hey Man!!

Well plants are in their buckets.... Planted Friday evening. Things seems to be going good... The 2 mazar fem's are yellowing some, I would
say more starting in the middle and going out towards the leaves. So I'm a little scared that there somthing going on there. Also the
one California Org. the 1 of those are yellowing to.

I found soil, I got premeir pro mix BX at a local nursery. So I mixed
that with the MG orgainic an the perlite. So I'm not sure what to do? I still have the shop lights on all 24/0, is that ok? Or do they need some dark?

Thanks man!

any floros that you use should be kept as close to the plants as you can get them without them actually touching the plant.. say within an inch or two..

you shouldnt have to worry about root bound plants at all.. the main thing is to make sure to keep the plant getting what it needs nutrition and water wise and you should have no problems.. the more roots there are the faster water and nutes will get used... IMHO, as long as you feed it enough and water it enough (dont over do it.. but make sure its ample) then root binding is just a myth.... your root systems will fill out those buckets quite nicely

hey bro... the yellowing to me sounds like a sign of an N def starting... you said you planted them friday.. do you mean you put them in the mix you said, or just starter cubes?? if you transplanted them, when you water next, give them a shot of veg nutes... 1/4 strength to start...

24/0 can be ran all the way through veg if you want.. the more constant light they have the shorter and fatter the plants will be... adding dark will give you space between nodes... not that its a bad thing... it just depends on what you want.... if you do cut back light i would go with a 20/4 cycle.. im not a big fan of 18/6.. thats just me though...

well first congrats on the 2 girls... hopefully your seedling will turn out to be a girl also...

there are 3 types of lighting; floros, HID's, LEDs... ill break down each basic one and give some easy back ground info...

LEDs - these are the newest on the market.. as of now they are over priced and under preform... not that they dont work.. they just have a long way to go.. and there are so many types its ridiculous... personally i would stay away from these for a few years... when the technology gets there and prices drop they may be more economical to try and use.. but for now... dont waste the time or money...

floros - theres a bunch of different types of floros.. t-5s, t-8's, t-12s, tt-105s, cfls... i think thats it.... these are nice for smaller grows and for vegging.. they put of little heat which is great.. but they dont penetrate very far (all except the tt-105s which can easily replace a 400w hps.. but they are also 500 per ballast.. so im just trying to keep it simple) at all... this makes flowering with them less than appealing....

HIDs - these are your hps and mh lamps... they put off a good amount of heat.. so exhaust and ventilation work is usually needed.. they have external ballasts which also put off heat... so some growers will stick the ballast itself in another room to try to cut down on heat... they offer the best in penetration power for flowering...

color spectrum of bulbs does play a small part in things.. blue spectrum bulbs (cool white, daylight, metal halide (mh) will give the most useable light for veg... warm bulbs and hps bulbs give the most useable spectrum for flowering... floros work best with seedlings/sprouts and even mothers because they need little light to root (seedlings/sprouts) or regrow lost limbs to clones (mothers)... BUT hps bulbs and warm bulbs CAN be used the entire grow cycle.. from start to finish (from transplant to flower... still try to use floros for seedlings/sprouts/clones to make it easy)...

the other thing to consider is heat.. cool white/daytime bulbs and MH bulbs put off more heat than do warm bulbs or hps... the floros arent as important to bring up here as the mh/hps... mh gets much much hotter than hps.. and thats saying a lot since hps bulbs can easily burn your hand if you touch them.. even at 400ws.. so if you are considering using hps HIDs, which will give you among the best results you can get, i would suggest using only hps and getting a digital ballast.. digital ballasts put off much less heat than the magnetic ones..

=) thanks man, i seen a $40 hps lamp(not sure on watts) but i wus goona get it untill i remember i asked you about lighting, and now im pretty sure im goona go with t-12s or maybe tt-105 if i can scrounge up enough money lol but thanks alot bro, you just saved me alot of problems (heat,space,etc..) i really appreciate it =)

alright, so if end up going with the t-12s i can still put some cfls around the sides to get light penetrating throughout the whole plant right? it wont confuse or stress out the plant?

i water about ever 3 days or when the soil feels dry a couple inches down. and yea the soil drains good. but i flushed a couple days ago (probly 4 or 5) because i PHed my water a bit high. the next day they were droopy as hell, so i left em alone for a couple days and it just got worse. i airated the soil a little bit yesterday night, and then this morning they looked like that.

this is the most bumping i have had to do since i started the thread...

Sampson, what up my man. Sorry dude, but I don't know too much bout forum chat. What does "the most bumping" mean? Everything cool?

In case you can't tell, its me, the V-drip guy. Still wondering how the heck that v-drip is gonna work.

I'm waitin on beans dude, & its killin me. Ordered almost 30 days ago.

Its my fault, I botched a digit on my zip code (NOT LIKE THAT IS SOMETHING WE MAY WANT TO PAY ATTN TO OR ANYTHING). I was hasty, trying to do on a remote computer, got distracted, yada. For real, I feel like such a tool. It's gotta go back overseas & then get re-posted. That was the autos I was talkin bout.

While trying to control my patience. I placed another order for autos about 2 weeks ago (as I am writing off the first round due to the holiday mail traffic). And been thinking that I wanna get started with mommies & clones too. So I currently have over 600 beans worth o' all fem beans waitin to get to me. But greeat day am I prepared for their arrival. (Dude, I am really startin to overthink this, as you said in 101, "it's takin the Zen" out my whole game). But we push on!

I have an acquaintance that discussed SOG'in with me. In essence, that is taking a clone, letting it establish roots, then switchin photo to 12/12, correct? Resulting in vigorous growth, and happy campers. Could you break down your opinion of SOG's please.

One last thing (always one last thing, sorry), let's say that you have a tote (all this idle time has enabled me to construct a kick ars lookin - note I say lookin, cause it hasn't done squat yet) aeroponic grow chamber. Should be great for the mommies. But here's the thing. Say in an ideal world, I have my x4 moms rockin, producing lovely clones for 2 or 3 cycles. Then, I decide, maybe I want to switch flavors & start some new mommies, can I take the x4 moms that have been giving me clones for months & throw them under an HID (as opposed to flou's), switch photo to 12/12 and voila, I get to see their flowers??? Or are moms just typically disposed of after having a fruitful life as a mommy.
I apologize if the answer is an easy one, just occured to me, and had to ask you.

Thanks for everything in advance, lawddy lawd, keep you fingers crossed for me & my parcels!!

Thanks again homey, have a great holiday, if thats yo thang & I look forward to reading more of your sage advice!

hey bro...

the bumping thing is basically just to "bump" the thread to the top of the list of readable threads.. so people actually see it when they open a forum... make sense?? it keeps it in good circulation.. normally i dont have to do it.. but sometimes the questions run low and i have to give it a bump to keep trying to help!

the sucks about the beans.. it happens tho.. simple mistake.. at least they weren't intercepted or something.. you'll still get em.. thats the important thing..

as far as the autos go, i have enjoyed growing them... they have an astrinomical growth rate.. i guess its because they have to make up so much growth in such a short period.. you cant clone them or use them as mothers at all.. since you cant control the stages of growth with them your some what out of luck there... but they make for a nice little bumper crop..

your friend was pretty much spot on with sog... sog stands for sea of green.. to achieve that you basically take your cuttings, root them, plant them in a medium, and go straight to 12/12... now you can veg them out for a couple weeks if you want.. some growers choose to do that to get a larger yield per plant.. but its up to you... the idea with sog is that the total harvest yield will come from many small plants that may only get a 1/2 ounce each verse a few plants that you may get 6 ounces off of each... the only thing about sog i dont like is having to have mothers that are perpetually grown... i hate taking care of mothers.. its not hard to do or anything.. just more of a pain in the ass... but for smaller spaces, or even trying to get a staggered harvest, its a great technique...

what about the v-drip are you worried about?? i will try to help you out the best i can.. they are super easy to use.. it just takes a little adjusting over time...

mothers are almost always flowered over being destroyed.. the longer the veg time the larger they will yield.. assuming you dont over clone them (over stress them) at anytime you should get a great harvest from them...

the only concern i have is that you may not have enough room to keep 4 mothers going in a single tote... you may want to consider getting a second tote and putting 2 in each.. but it also depends on the size of the totes...

happy holidays to you as well... hope all goes well and comes in soon for ya.. as always you know where im at if you have any questions!

simpson i got my C-E- SOLUTION and im using soil should i use the water, water, feed method. im only asking because they didnt say we could use with every feeding let me know bro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i personally go water, feed, water, feed... not so much into 2 waters in a row... as long as the plants seem to be doing good you can go with and every other schedule...

if you had transplanted them, and then watered with a different ph of water than they are used to, its probably a mix between osmotic shock and regular shock..

osmotic shock happens at the roots... when ph is shifted more than .5 of a point there is a chance it can happen.. it changes how the roots absorb water/nutes, and can cause problems for a few days...

then the normal shock from transplant, depending on how well it went..

are they looking better??

sorry i meant to get back to you.. i completely fucked it off tho..

No doubt, this man deserves some serious payback I fear I will never to be able to return.

Been huge help here too! (Albeit everything is conceptual right now).

Sampson, thanks for the latest input.

I'm not too worried about the v-drip thing. I just have never seen or heard of any other grows using them, and I suppose I was a little put off when I initially received & the set up was not exactly what I was expecting. But, foe real, right now, what the hell do I know??

It could be the premo system out there (doubt that), but you know what I mean.

It's all hypothetical till those babies get on my person & let me do that thing.

I realize that the thousands of hours of R&D I have put into this will be surpassed & not even close to giving me the know how that an actual grow will.

Thanks for your 2 cents on keeping the moms saavy & the advice that you feel it is too many moms for the space. But dude, space is my mortal enemy right now.

My entire space is 40" x 72". Flowering tent takes up 24"x36". WHich leaves about a 40"x36" area of live space to keep mommies (clones would be done in 4" cubes in a drip tray that is actually above the tent. Weird I know, but I had to take advantage of some vertical space. I still have to get my big ars in there on a daily basis too, my biggest reason for having to free up some space.

You know anyone that has tried a Waterfarm drip system. They are all over cyberspace. I saw a utube video & the frickin root ball was outrageous!! Relatively cheap, plug & play type situation.

Looks phenom for keeping 1, or MAX 2 moms. But I would lose the ability to shift that tote into the tent to bud them (know that you hooked up that knowledge).

What if I cut back to a total of x4 moms in a Tuffbox (they are black & yellow really heavy duty boxes that I have seen all over the place used for hydro grows @ any Home Depot or Lowes). It is 18"x30". Gonna be using 4" net cups. With the self-contained aeroponic system that I made.

I could @ least keep the moms in there & then after them hopefully bearing lots of sisters, throw them in the tent for 60 days & then start new moms.

Am I correct in assuming that x4 moms that gave up sisters & vegged for bout 6 months would have a descent yield?

So, heres my plan.

Autoflowers to get my feet wet (and hopefully instant gratification while shwoing me the ropes of my systems), for 1st 70 days.

At the same time I germ autos. gonna start germn & lookin for the best mommie. (Got x10 NL fems & x10 NY47 fems). I read & heard that NL almost grows itself (great for newb like me). Threw in the Ak & Diesel combo just for some sativ influence & cause it's diesel. Hopefully out of those I am looking for the x2 best seedlings to be moms. (Let's hope they make it that far).

Okay, heres another one, man I must drive you nuts, but thanks again for being so patient.

So check this, I germ all x20 fem beans. Let's say 15 germ & actually sprout, I find my x4 super mommies.
What if I took the remaining seedlings, grew them in 4" rockwool cubes till the autos were done, and then threw in the remaining Diesel & NL seedlings while the mommies are gettin proper?

Again, what would sampson do?

Or am I just half cocked & totally goin about this the wrong way.

Sorry dude, you made yourself the easiest, most helpful resource on here, I gotta ask. Otherwise it just rattles around upstairs all night long.

Man this show really needs to get on the road. It is starting to consume my everyday thoughts. I'm losin the zen bro.

Nah, I'll be good, just would love to get movin.

One final FYI, all this extra time did allow me to get ventilation sorted. x2 can fans (x1 goes cools lamp in tent & goes straight from tent to attic. The second vents whole effin room. So air out is no prob. I have yet to make any holes in the ground (although I have the $40 dam 4" circle hole saw drill bit for it though, also my reasoning for 4"cups for the moms.

Dude, you are the man. You do a wonderful thing for A LOT of people. I thank you for it!!

Thanks again for everything bud & have a good holiday.

Really last question:
Is there a way to change the label next to my name to read something other than "stranger". How does that whole deal work? Unfortunately, with kids, work, etc its tough to be a member of tons of forums & make a ton of postings. Frankly, other than you, I have made a total of say x10 posts. alright bro... if you give me a link to the system you are using or the name of it i will do some reading and let you know how to set it up and run it.. they are easy to do.. the adjusting just comes down to the drip rate... which doesnt take much to figure out...

space is always the enemy... we always want to have more space than we do... you are on the right path with utilizing the space the best you can.. you'll find it will more than likely need tweaked.. but its hard to know how things will go until they are all up and running..

i dont know anyone personally who has used a waterfall drip system.. ill do some looking around on youtube and see what they are and let ya know what i think sometime today or tomorrow..

your idea for holding your moms is good.. but i still worry you wont have the space to support them... 2 moms is enough to give 10 to 15 cuttings each every 2 weeks.. 4 moms that are vegged out for 6 months will definitely cause space issues in an 18"x30" box... i think 2 or 3 moms would work... but 4 is pushing it... but... the easiest thing to do is to have some soil on hand and a couple pots.. if you notice you are running short of space pull one or two moms, throw them in dirt, and flower them.... it'll keep your options open but also allow you to see how much space they really will take up.. i could be wrong bout the space....

your plan with the autos wont work... at least for moms.. you cant use autos for mothers... their life cycle is to short to be able to take cuttings, root them, and clone them.. mothers need to be photoperiod strains that can be held in perpetual veg cycles... since autos flower automatically you cant hold them as mothers.. starting with autos isnt a bad idea.. but you need regular femd seeds or regular seeds and cull the males and pick your moms that way... sorry for the bust...

as far as the other plan you were asking.. lets say you germ out your autos and start them.. and also start some photoperiod seeds... you could potentially take the extra photoperiod seeds (Assuming you germ more than you need for mothers) that you dont use for mothers and flower them 12/12 from seed.. now this causes another issue... autos typically grow best under 18/6 lighting... photoperiod strains need 12/12 to flower... so you would have to cut back your autos light cycle to 12/12.. this will cause a significant drop in their potential yield... maybe 30%.. but the 12/12's from seed may very well make up that 30% and then some.. but its not a for sure thing.. its somewhat a gamble... i would personally just do the autos and get the photoperiod girls going seperately... give them the most veg time you can...

sounds like your ventilation is going to be good.. i wouldnt worry about drilling any holes anywhere until you know for sure how well it will work out... give it a few days with everything up and running before you decide to drill anything.. i have a feeling, as long as the air around the room near the grow tent is cool, that everything in there will be fine...

dont feel bad about asking questions... i wish i had known about this site when i first started growing.. i had to wing it the first 3 or 4 grows without any input from experienced growers... as far as your stranger tag goes, its all about the amount of posts you make.. to change it i think you need something like 20 posts... then as your post count goes up so will the title change...
