Flowering Question

I suppose a 16 week Golden Thai would take an excessive amount of time to show pistils, but in 12 years of growing I've never seen a plant go more than 14 - 17 days after switching to 12/12.

20-30 days? No.

so if a golden thai can do it why cant something else?basically contradicting what you said. soooo all the people ive talked to are all wrong? people have seen it take up to 21 days at least to show signs of sex. i seriously doubt u have grown every strain with every possible stress happen to it. if u were right my GWS would be showing signs of flowering right now , but its not and my pure kush is steadily showing more every day... just my 2 cents.

Um....genetics? You do know about them, right? There are very few pure sativa strains like Golden Thai.

im on day 16 on 12/12 and one of my great white shark as yet to show anything. my other strain is growing more hairs every day. ive been told this is normal too. it can take like 20-30 days to show signs .
I have checked everything twice, light schedule is right on the money. I have looked the girls over again from top to bottom. I am going to give it a couple more days and see what happens. If nothing changes I will start over again. I have kept a journal everyday, so the days in flowering are correct, beginning with the first day of 12/12 lights. Some could call that pre-flower and perhaps I should not count that as days of flowering. Thoughts?

no sign is a good thing at his point ,females tend to take longer to show their sex ,males show first so they can produce pollen and be ready to impregnate the nearby females, but Ive always seen signs in the 14 day range too, males always first in my experiences,I would let em go,they might of gave you autos in error,my autos took around 25 days to flower

I would hope that perhaps you are correct. Auto by mistake seems unlikely, but you never know. I will give them a couple more days. By the way I have some WW auto I just got, what is your experience with autos?

Well, still no clearly visible pistels and this is 27 days from the 12/12 switch. The girl looks super healthy and she is out growing my box. There are several bud sites and two main colas, but no pistels. I am totally confused by this. Any ideas?

6500k lights are for Vegging, you will need to shut those off and try using only the 2700k lights because they are for flower!!

Vegging requires 24/0 - 18/6 hours of light in the 6500k (Day light) spectrum.
This is when your plant is setting up its roots and beging the foundation for your much anticipated Flowering stages. Due to the longer light periods your able to get away with less light.

Flowering requires 12/12 hours of light in the 2700k (soft light) spectrum.
Because this is the stage that will give you what your looking for at the end you want as much light as you can put in to get those bigger buds. This stage is crucial because of the shorter light periods.

the problem is you put it into flower to early...i usually wait to see preflowers before flowering, telling me she is ready to flower...from seed plants can take 6-8 weeks to mature, so if you try to flower early it will only postpone the flowering process until plant is ready...you put it in at 27 days so it will take a few weeks to show...patients and the time will come just not as fast as you expect.

clones are different they will flower as a cutting because they are same age as mother and are sexually mature enough to flower.peace

I still think its a timer issue. You need to replace it. That thing is going on in the middle of your 12/12 dark cycle when you're not watching.

Best thing is, it's a cheap and easy switch out just to be sure.

I also agree that it's not such a bad thing that no pistils are showing. You're in a stasis place right now, and all the flowering potential is still there as long as the plant stays healthy.

If she's overgrowing your box and not showing pistils, feel free to trim her back.

Smokinrav, Alright I replaced the timer as you have suggested, so that should be taken care of.
She is over growing the box in height, my lights are a max height and she is touching them. I am thinking about LST, tying down the tops to 90 degrees or so to get more time and room. I probably will trim some of the lower growth, she has plenty of fan leaves that will remain. This is Day 53 and Day 26 of 12/12. Right now I am running 2700K red spectrum T5's two bulbs, hope that is enough light for her. My PH ave. holds at about 5.8 to 6.0. Rez temp about 77 F and box temp ave about 80 to 85F.
There may be the beginning of some pistels, hard to tell at this point. I will take some update pics today.

This is day 27 of 12/12 and I suspect I have at least 4 to 6 weeks to go before harvest.
What do you think of the Lady?

Looks massive and kinda thin. You been cutting things out?

You can easily drop those brancehs with a little tieing down. If you fish, hang some weights on the branches like hanging ornaments on a tree. It works great and you don't have to have tie down points below. Obviously you can do it if you don't fish, lol.

You're going to have your work cut out for you with this one. Try not to get frustrated.

Get those branches away from that light ASAP.

Smokinrav, I tied down the top two colas with nuts and as you say just like fishing sinkers. I am trying to keep the branches away from the bulbs and I will try to be patient. So far so good. Change rez today and gave the Lady some fresh nutes. I will keep updating with pics. Thanks and keep sharing your opinions.

Grrouch, thank you man. I will keep updating as the days pass, so follow me. I topped once during veg and now two main stems and colas. I did trim some of the huge fan leaves, but not very many. Any advice from you would be appreciated. Thanks again!
